This will be a short newsletter this month. We just got back from our first vacation where we didn’t take phone calls. Two weeks in Switzerland and two in Israel. We did though take emails so business kept us a little bit busy.
I was very impressed with the food situation in both places. The freshness of the food made a big difference. Being the fall, much of our diet had just been harvested. Also I found although back here in the US I do not do well on gluten containing foods, in Switzerland I was able to tolerate old world sourdough bread. It will be interesting whether I can tolerate the same bread here. I know of others that say the same thing as the sourdough process can greatly decrease gluten content but it doesn’t hold true for everyone or for all sourdoughs. In Switzerland, either gluten and dairy sensitivities are fairly nonexistent or there is just a lack of awareness of these issues. You do not see anyone advertise gluten free, etc.

Case Histories presented by Brett Morgan DC, Charleston WV
1) I recently saw a 50 year old female patient with complaints of itchy skin and a rash. This condition was of eight months duration. She stated it flares up when she is hot, and itching makes it very difficult for her to sleep. She previously tried steroid packs and numerous other medications, which proved non effective. She tested positive to the following vials (AK test kits 970-201-7406): Fungus 1, Parasite 2. On testing they were blocked by Olive Leaf Supreme. She also tested for Camu Supreme (Supreme Nutrition 800-922-1744) and positive to nightshades (solanine) and gluten (gliadin- food toxin kit and Lebowitz protocol kit). Two weeks later she still tested positive to the fungus vial and it was still blocked by Olive Leaf Supreme. The itching had decreased some and the rash had cleared some. I decided to increase the dose of Olive Leaf Supreme from 1x3 to 2x3 and kept everything else the same. I saw her 20 days later and all the symptoms were gone!
2) I saw a 28 year old male with complaints of waking up and vomiting every morning for the last 2 months, difficulty sleeping, and low energy. He tested positive on the following vials: Mixed Parasite, Protozoa, and Mixed Mycotoxin. They were blocked by Golden Thread Supreme and Smilax Supreme. He also showed a need for vitamin A and L-Tryptophan. One month later, he had only vomited once (which was during the first week after treatment) and was sleeping better, and had more energy.
Misc.

It has been a pleasure working with the company. Being able to test each batch of raw materials and tell them which to purchase which in my opinion is critical in getting the best materials available. I recently had to evaluate raw materials for a new batch of Smilax. All samples had the same specs in terms of no contamination, country of origin etc. but only one passed my muscle testing evaluation. This is quite common. They (Supreme) will not purchase new batches of raw materials that do not pass kinesiological tests performed by me, with help from other qualified physicians when needed. Without the testing all the batches would look the same and the company involved would probably just buy the least expensive one or one from a supplier they like dealing with. Supreme deals with many suppliers so the samples can be tested in this fashion and they have multiple options of where to purchase from.
Solanines
A recent article published in the journal Burns talked about chronic pruritus occurring in most scars after serious burns. A study was done with 15 patients with pruritus of postburn scars that was unresponsive to antihistamine treatment. The patients were advised to follow a nightshade free diet. Of the ones that did over 65% reported total resolution of itching. The others received partial improvement (50-90%) except for one that had no improvement.
Dr. L: It might be useful to check the solanine vial over scars. Remember, a majority of positive tests with the food toxin vials is when a normally responding muscle becomes hypertonic.

The book is a great review for the doctor, but better yet it is a great tool to recommend to your patient.
