At the summer ICAK conference my son Noah and I presented a paper questioning the amount of false positives with AK nutrition testing and explaining why that is. We often have patients symptoms improve that came in from other docs (even AK ones) and are on supplements that are contraindicated, once we remove them from what they are taking. Clinical tidbit
Rosemary helps activate vitamin D receptors. In our office when we test vitamin D on a weak indicator it rarely strengthens. This can be due to high calcitriol levels which would make it contra-indicated. Another reason though can be due to a SNP in the VDR (vitamin D receptors). In these cases often you need to test Rosemary Supreme (Supreme Nutrition 1-800-922-1744) in combination with a good D to get it to test and then supplement with both.
Takesumi Supreme
Ever since the Fukushima nuclear disaster, we are often asked about radioactivity in takesumi. First off the bamboo is harvested in the SW party of Japan while the disaster was in the NE and radiation would head east not west. Each batch of takesumi is sent to an independent lab to check for radioactive cesium and iodine and to this date all results have come back as none detected. Case Histories
1. A case history from Dr Kim in Grand Junction
Morrie, a 34 year old male was diagnosed with manic bipolar disorder in 2012. He presented with very low energy, and he had a very hard time maintaining his job due to his symptoms. His M.D. prescribed aripiprazole, clonazepam, paroxetine, levothyroxin, and lithium carbonate. He said those medications didn't really help his symptom. He came from Texas to Colorado to visit his cousin who is my previous patient. He want to be treated as he already on his own had decided to go off his medications.
I couldn't test him directly this time because his muscles were so weak and shaking. So I do surrogate test using his cousin. I found some the following vials tested positive (Vials from Lebowitz protocol Kit- AK Test Kits 1-970-201-7406) Rickettsia, Borrelia and Candida as well as-caffeine, lactose, and gluten. On Chapman reflex screening the liver and stomach reflexes were also positive. He said he usually consumed lots of energy drinks and chocolate. I gave him Golden Thread Supreme, Schisandra Supreme (Supreme Nutrition 800-922-1744), and L-Tyrosine(Thorne) and recommended an anti-fungus diet and to stay off lactose, gluten, and caffeine free diet for 2 weeks.
He came back 2 weeks later. He said all his symptoms disappeared. He said he now wakes up early and has “plenty of energy” the whole day. I could now test him directly without needing a surrogate (His muscle was very strong and no shaking) this time and same the supplements were still indicated. Caffeine was still weakening. I suggest same supplements for 2 more weeks and he promised to avoid caffeine in whole his life.
He is still doing well now and I recommended a like-minded practitioner in Texas to follow up as needed.
2. The first of hopefully many from Noah Lebowitz DC
While in Nicaragua in July I treated an ex-pat who used to live in New Mexico. After coming back to the USA his daughter who was 41 years old contacted me about flying out from Illinois for an appointment.
She came in with left sided face numbness and tingling since a mono outbreak in September of 2014. She also had vibration going down her left leg. She had put on 50 pounds over the past year since her brother had passed away. She had heartburn, low energy, and wasn't the typical perky self that she always had been previously.
She tested positive on the following composite vials (AK Test Kits) Rickettsia, Fungus 1, Parasite 3, Fungus 2, Candida, Virus 3, Parasite 1, and Biofilm. She showed sensitive to Casein and Caffeine (and I put her on a fungal diet). She needed the following supplements: Rosemary Supreme, Taksesumi Supreme, Golden Thread Supreme (Supreme Nutrition), and GABA-250 (Thorne). I corrected a hiatal hernia, and did lots of structural AK/Chiro work.
I saw her the following day and Arsenic and Rice also tested positive. She didn't sleep well that night, and GABA now weakened her. I took her off GABA and added Molybdenum. (often times if you do comprehensive exams two days in a row there are slight tweakings needed to supplements and diet in complex patients)
She flew back to Arizona 12 days later. She felt better than she had in the past year. She said the first few days she felt awful but since then she was amazed at how much better she could feel in such a short amount of time.
Her hands and feet don't hurt anymore (which she never told me about), the numbness in her face was significantly decreased, she lost 10 pounds, and her energy/mood was substantially improved for the better. She was very happy.
On the exam she now showed for Virus 3, Fungus 3, Chlamydia (fungus 3 and mixed chlamydia were new findings which were probably unlayering but could have been new), and Biofilm. She showed sensitive to Oats and Caffeine. This time she tested positive to take BFB-2 (probably on the first visit when biofilms showed up her body wasn’t strong enough to start degrading them so BFB didn’t show until this visit), Takesumi Supreme, Morinda Supreme, and Molybdenum. A very happy patient :-)
