Dear Colleagues:
I hope you all are well. I’d like to encourage you to attend the following events this year:
1 Coming soon: The Lebowitz Protocol Seminar May 1st in Atlanta GA. Noah and I will be teaching our whole protocol. This will be our only group seminar until the fall. To read more details and/or sign up go to https://michaellebowitzdc.com/html/2022Seminars/index.html.
As usual we still welcome docs to Maui to take a one on one class with us.
2- The ICAK USA yearly seminar is also in Atlanta, https://www.icakusa.com/icak-annual-homecoming. Most of the “big names” in AK will be presenting as well as preconference classes in utilizing AK to treat animals, extremity adjusting, AK neurology etc. Noah and I will be giving a historical overview on food testing with AK up to what we feel is the most accurate way to do it now. There will be a special tract for students on foundational work etc.
We hope to see many of you at one or both of these events. We are intending to teach a fall seminar somewhere in the western half of the US time and place TBD.
This month we will do a professional filming of our seminar here on Maui. It will be similar to our 2020 seminar but much better film quality and some new techniques, tidbits, etc. Will let you know when it is available.
April should also be a month we launch 2 new Supreme Nutrition products one of which will be a deviation from our usual. Stay tuned for announcements either in a forthcoming newsletter or an eblast from Supreme Nutrition Products or both
Case histories by Michael Lebowitz DC
1. Sammie is a successful 46 year old filmmaker with an overwhelming international travel schedule. She has been a vegetarian for 20+ years though recently added a small amount of turkey and fish into her diet. Her main concerns are decreasing kidney function, low energy, migraines, and a short menstrual cycle possibly perimenopausal. There was also a suspicious “dark spot” on her kidney in a recent ultrasound. On recent labs her GFR was 71, fasting glucose was 123 (was 84 in Sept 2021). Going back 10 months her GFR was 85 and 73 6 months ago.
We decided to run our protocol on our first visit and see what would happen. Findings were as follows: + vials from Lebowitz protocol kit (AK test kits 970-201-7406)- SIBO, Parasite 1, Parasite 2, Fungus 3, Oxalates, Zein, Caffeine, and Cod (Cod in food kit not protocol kit).We supplemented with Artemesia Supreme, Body Guard Supreme (Supreme Nutrition products), L Carnitine (Thorne) and L-Tyrosine (Metabolic Maintenance). We took her off refined sweetening, fermented food and greatly restricted her oxalates. Also based on her diet and that L-carnitine showed positive we had her add red meat to her diet daily. Food quality was iffy due to her having to travel shortly after the visit.
On a return visit a month later the borrelia vial showed. Others were negative. Her bloodwork showed a GFR of 89 (up from 71 a month earlier). A CT with contrast showed no dark area on her kidney (was the previous ultrasound a false positive or was it cleared from the program?).
Supplements changed drastically. Still needed L-Tyrosine. From Supreme Nutrition; Shatavari, Morinda, Tulsi, American Ginseng and Albizia. Sammy has a long way to go but the normalizing of her GFR was very encouraging. We need to build her adrenals which will be difficult due to her hectic lifestyle (off to Europe and the middle east this month) but with Tulsi and American Ginseng being adrenal adaptogens and L-Tyrosine which converts to epinephrine, I feel confident about the outcome and will report more if we have an opportunity.
2. Alice is a 69 year old woman with a recent diagnosis of scleroderma as well as severe Raynaud’s disease. Also suffers from TMJ syndrome. Onset might have been after a trip to Samoa in 2014 in which she needed to take typhoid, malaria and dengue meds/vaccines. After taking many supplements to no avail she was presently on LDN. To get any relief she had to move from her house which is at 3700 feet elevation down to sea level as her condition was greatly aggravated by the cold. The covid vaccines also aggravated things (her statement).
Findings were as follows: + vials from Lebowitz protocol kit (AK test kits 970-201-7406)- Virus 3, Parasite 1 and 2, Bacteria, Rickettsia, oxalic acid (this test here and above is taught with the provocation we teach otherwise there is a 90% chance of a false negative), mycotoxins, zein, lactose. She also failed 6 of the 8 vials checking for hypercoagulation. The air samples she brought in from her long time house tested positive (probably for mold). We prescribed Artemesia Supreme, Melia Supreme, and Dan Shen Supreme 2x3 of each, BFB-1 applied to her feet and thumbs (all Supreme Nutrition) and Magnesium Citramate (Thorne). We had her buy an ozonator off amazon to treat her house.
She returned 2 weeks later. Her health had improved and she was able to walk 2 ½ miles on the beach for the first time in a great while. She still failed the hypercoagulation tests tho all else were negative. Still needed Melia, BFB, Dan Shen and Magnesium but no longer Artemesia. When an antimicrobial like Melia still shows on a subsequent visit but the microbial vials are now negative we look at it as the microbes are making good progress and the patient is less neurologically sensitive to them but the microbial issue is not resolved yet). We also put her on Natto-Serrazyme by designs for health to complement the Dan Shen. We rarely do this but with severe Raynauds and still failing our hypercoagulation tests we felt it necessary.
We decided to run some labs (she had asked her MD to run them for her to save $ and have Medicare cover but he refused). Her ANA titer was 2560 (normal is <40). This was 2 weeks into treatment and actually a 5% decrease from pretreatment values. Her hs-CRP was 1.73 and vitamin D was 29. D-Dimer was .6 (normal is <.5) suggestive of clotting issues.
Visit #3 was after getting the labs back. She still was improved but with a long way to go. She now only failed 3 of our 8 coagulation tests (typically by visit #2 they all test negative, this is one of the most severe we have encountered). For the first time oxalates and lectins were positive. We added Albizia Supreme, Vital Protein Collagen and Vitamin D. We carry 5 brands of Vitamin D and only one showed (this does happen more often than we like thus the need to carry multiple brands of this and a few other products). We slightly bumped up her Dan Shen and Natto Serrazyme doses and look forward to her next visit. With lectins and oxalates positive and being highly motivated we put her on a diet of meat, eggs, and fruit temporarily.
Both these cases are severe and we try to cover as many bases as possible so the patient sees a clear improvement between visits 1 and 2 and are motivated to follow whatever regimen is necessary.
