Dear Colleagues:
I hope you are well. Recently I took some time to look at my lists of who has attended our seminars over the years - who has purchased videos, which doctors have come to our home/office for treatment and seminars. I've known many of you for 10-15 years -some when you were still students and have developed great friendships. It's been very gratifying.
When I graduated Western State in 1980, I set up a small practice in rural Hawaii. I never envisioned that I would be teaching with people like Wally Schmitt and developing AK techniques. We've had doctors from all over the US, Australia, Germany etc. come to our house to learn. Patients come from Russia, Czechoslovakia, etc. Our techniques have been used successfully to treat tens of thousands of patients in the US, Australia, South Africa, Japan, and Europe. We've developed a few nutritional products and this newsletter is in its 12th year.
I consider you guys some of the best doctors in the world. I thank God for all he has done and for all of you physicians as well as Thorne Research, Mid American Marketing, Jay Wilson, Harry Lefkowitz, Wally Schmitt, and the many other people and companies that have played a part. I do believe we have made a very positive impact on health care. Compared to other techniques we have always been relatively low key, not aggressive in promoting ourselves or our seminars. We've attracted some of the most talented and dedicated physicians. All I can say is thank you and I look forward to more decades of the same.
As some of you know we selectively take referrals of chronically ill patients from other parts of the country and have them come for 3 days over which time I treat them fairly aggressively (usually twice daily) to try and "turn the corner" with them so to speak and return them to their local physicians with ideas for follow up care.
We recently had one such patient from Alabama, referred by Trey Lott MD, DC. The patient is a 32-year-old female who hasn't felt well most of her life. For the past 9 months she has suffered greatly with Fibromyalgia, including "burning and a pressure
feeling" over her whole body. She was extremely sensitive to touch and has had frequent muscle spasms especially in her legs. She had responded positively to procaine injections but still suffered greatly. On top of this she had been diagnosed with MS in 1995 and it was unclear whether these new symptoms were part of her MS or not.
Previous to her MS symptoms she had moved and met her husband to be. I often see moves, vacations, illnesses etc. precede the onset of problems due to the new exposures to chemicals, microbes, etc. that these events can bring. The tips of her fingers were numb and she spent the last 8 years in front of the computer many hours a day. She was sensitive to many smells, often getting headaches in department stores and she averaged a bowel movement every 3-10 days. She also ran fairly frequent but intermittent fevers. She was on 6 prescription medicines including Neurontin, Minocyclene, and birth control pills.
We worked with her twice daily for 3 days. We found evidence of fungal, bacterial and viral involvement and sensitivities to dairy, eggs, rice, banana, and coconut. We found that she reacts to the air in her bedroom - though it appeared to be a chemical reaction (negated by Glutathione) as opposed to a mold reaction. The bedroom is over the garage (we instructed her to no longer park the car in the garage). We found evidence of copper and mercury toxicity. Supplements we had her on included SF722 (her husband checked for it, too), Basic Nutrients I, Magnesium Citrate-Malate, Glutathione, Arabinex, and Captomer 250 (all Thorne Research 1-800-228-1966). We performed many AK and chiropractic techniques over the 3-day period.
On day 2 she reported more energy, about 20% decrease in overall pain and decreased sensitivity to touch (she was previously hypersensitive). She had 3 bowel movements over the first 24 hours (remember she had averaged one every 3-10 days).
When she left we gave her and her doctor follow up instructions for back home for her and her husband (besides fungal issues the husband also tested positive for mercury). I just heard from her yesterday - which is 3 weeks after her stay here. Here is what she said:
"Hello Dr. Lebowitz, I wanted to update you on my progress. I feel very good in comparison to when I first came to see you. Applying Captomer directly to my legs is working well [we have her dissolving it in oil] , but I can't skip it. I am experiencing very little pain in my legs, pain in my arms off and on (here one or two days and then gone one or two days). I am suspicious that the fungus may be back. I was nausea-free for one to two weeks, but it is coming back now. Thank you so much for how you have helped me. I feel better than I have felt in 10 or 15 years."
It is not unusual for a recurrence of fungus when going back to a hot, humid climate but now we have seen cause and effect and she appears on the road to recovery. It there is no trained physician where the patient lives it is much harder and on rare occasions patients do have to move to a more environmentally clean, less moldy area. I feel a lot was accomplished in three days.

CORRECTING CHRONIC HEALTH PROBLEMS
DENVER COLORADO VIDEO/DVD SUNDAY, MAY 5, 2002
Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce the availability of the seminar I co-taught with Jay Wilson DC at the Red Lion Hotel, Denver, CO on Sunday, May 5, 2002.
This video or DVD will teach the physician a simple to apply, effective protocol to treat patients with chronic fatigue, allergies, chemical sensitivities, intestinal dysbiosis (fungal, bacterial, parasitic and viral infections), food sensitivities, altered intestinal permeability, toxic metal problems, adrenal and endocrine dysfunction, lymphatic dysfunction, nutritional imbalances, and chronic subluxations. This will help people with most chronic diseases including headaches, arthritis, auto-immune diseases, gastrointestinal problems, chronic pain, depression, memory lapses and many other problems. A knowledge of basic muscle testing is helpful. The seminar is geared to both the beginning and advanced practitioner and will be a balanced blend of both academics and techniques that you can apply right away. For those of you that have been to previous seminars this will have all the essential basic and advanced techniques as well as enough new information (academic and clinical) to make it worthwhile to watch including finding "underlying layers" quickly and easily that often elude our testing. Easy, accurate screening techniques and desensitizations are taught along with the highest quality nutritional products and the pros and cons of all available lab screenings. There is no hype and no expensive instruments necessary to apply these techniques.
Dr. Lebowitz is a DC practicing in Grand Junction, CO specializing in chronically allergic and fatigued patients. He is a researcher in AK, has written two books, numerous articles and has been the recipient of two awards from ICAK. His techniques are used by hundreds of doctors worldwide.
Jay Wilson, DC, has taught postgraduate courses nationally in clinical nutrition, dysbiosis, herbal medicine and clinical kinesiology. His teaching integrates the most recent advances in natural therapeutics and laboratory diagnosis with applied kinesiology techniques. He maintains a practice specializing in chronically ill patients in Boulder, CO.
