Dear Colleagues:
I hope you all are doing well. Recently we have been involved in a lot of new research that I hope to discuss with you all in a few months. (It is still premature) I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the ICAK meeting in Chicago in June. It should be a great meeting and it is always great to get together with fellow doctors and 'compare notes.' If you are not an ICAK member call them (971-384-5336) for information about the upcoming conference.
We've recently updated our web site to include approximately the last 4 years of Sporadic Newsletters. If there are newsletters you are missing and want to read, just go to the website www.michaellebowitzdc.com. The website also includes our handout, Clinical Indications of Thorne Research Products as well as information on various products we like, info on purchasing our latest video, etc. Also, if you receive this newsletter by snail mail please call or email (noach2343@aol.com) with your email address so you can get it by email. It helps us out a lot.
There was a fascinating article recently in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, Number 70, October 2002 entitled: "Tefillin: An Ancient Acupuncture Point Prescription for Mental Clarity". For those of you that are interested in either discipline or the connection between different ancient tradition/instructions I suggest you read it. It is available on the Internet if you do a search under the title of the article.
I recently did an Internet search under my name and was surprised to find the following case history. A patient of a physician who took one of my seminars wrote it. It was interesting to see the patients' perspective of the experience. It appeared on The Healthy Awareness Candida Forum and was dated 6/27/00.
Hi All, Many of you know me from my visits to the forum last year. I promised to be back if I had good news about a treatment I was trying out. Thankfully, that's the news I have to share.
I've been under treatment by a chiropractor and the results are the best I've gotten to date.
This doctor uses kinesiology and acupuncture point stimulation, combined with Thorne Products (as in, for instance, SF722).
The advantage to this treatment is that kinesiology allows the doctor to identify precisely the cause(s) of your particular state of dysbiosis and food allergies.
Each of us has a unique set of allergies and dysbiosis conditions, and responds in an equally unique way to different supplements. That's why it is so difficult to share our treatment modalities here on the forum. A set of supplements which seem to be helping me might not be a set of supplements which work for the next ten people who try them.
Further, while we might be able to work on one situation, like yeast overgrowth, there may be other problems in the "background" which are equally as problematic, cause similar symptoms, and which are entirely unknown to us.
The beauty of this kinesiology system is that it can overcome these obstacles to treatment.
There is an M.D. by the name of Doris Rapp who discovered and developed the type of allergy testing that allopaths still use today: subcutaneous skin injections. A few years ago some patients of her's with stubborn allergies reported back to her about a wonderful treatment they had received which eliminated stubborn allergies Dr. Rapp was unable to reach allopathically. She reluctantly studied this new idea, experimented with it, and found that it was more effective, less expensive, and less painful than her subcutaneous work. After experiencing repeated evidence of the efficacy of kinesiology, she abandoned subcutaneous treatment entirely. She now operates a clinic in Arizona dedicated to kinesiolgy treatment alone.
In my case, I had a yeast overgrowth, a problem with a poultry bacteria, and several food allergies. The acupuncture point stimulation desensitizes you to your food allergies.
In the treatment phase, the kinesiology allows the doctor to identify which Thorne products will target your particular problems. My doctor believes that Thorne products hold the highest standards, and are the most effective he has used. He has successfully treated hundreds of patients with candida, as well people with Crohn's and other difficult diseases.
My best friend has received treatment from this doctor also, and has gotten excellent results.
The most important thing to mention to you is this: maintaining the diet after treatment is DISCONTINUED is critical. What I mean is, there is some period of time after treatment is discontinued when it is to your distinct advantage to limit your diet or else you will throw your system out of whack. The good news is that you needn't do this forever. I'd say 6 months to a year. (My son and I didn't follow this advice after our first round of treatment, and pretty much allowed ourselves to binge on desserts the first week the doctor said we were clear. Not smart.)
My doctor, a James Taylor, D.C. in Midlothian, Virginia, received his training from a Dr. Michael Lebowitz, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Dr. Taylor suggests you call Dr. Lebowitz to see who he might have trained in your area. The phone number is (970) 257-0311.
Let me know if you have any questions. I'll do my best to respond on a regular basis.
Best wishes, Sky
-It is gratifying to read reports like this. Most patients do not have to follow a strict diet more than 3-6 weeks though a healthful diet is recommended long term. We have found though that the more refined sweets in your diet, the more likely you will contract a fungal problem if you are exposed to the organisms.

I look forward to the new part 2 to his course. For more info call him at 718-773-1121. Harvey is an innovative practitioner and has added many valuable techniques to AK over the years.

4. If you have any anecdotal success stories using topical Captomer, please call Alan Miller ND at Thorne Research 1 800-228-1966 and share them with him. I have dissolved Captomer 250 many times and had patients apply it topically to non-responsive areas of joint and nerve pain and found it quite effective. My indicator is that the Captomer placed under the south pole of the magnet over the symptomatic area will strengthen a weak indicator muscle. I have used it on shoulders, knees, lumbar spines, etc. Sometimes relief is after the first application and sometimes it can take a few weeks (in long standing non-responsive problems). In rare cases the Captomer will cause a contact dermatitis and will need to be stopped (I have only seen this in one patient and that was after it brought considerable relief). I take one Captomer 250 and dissolve it in olive oil (as much oil as it takes) and apply it to the effected area once or twice daily.
We will also use Captomer orally in these cases if it strengthens a weak indicator muscle in the clear. If it does not we use it only topically. Even though most of the people I have done this on had toxic metal problems, I have also had success on some patients without any obvious toxic metal issues.
