Dear Colleagues:

I hope you are well and enjoying the fall. This past month I got to spend a day in my friend Joseph Vomero’s office in Scottsdale where he and Richard Qualls, another DC friend from Phoenix had some of their chronic patients come. I spent the day treating the patients and teaching as I went. It was a fruitful day where we all learned and hopefully the patients benefited too. There is a possibility I may do more of those in the future.

We are very pleased at how the DVD of our last seminar came out. I encourage all of you who haven’t done our protocols to purchase one (see the end of this newsletter for details) and for those who do, it would be beneficial to update yourselves with the newest techniques and findings. The two of us in Grand Junction who do these techniques have over 60 day waiting lists at the moment (we could possibly use another practitioner). I decided to add another day to my work schedule to help catch up.

This will be one of those newsletters where I just ramble for awhile. Next month we will get back to case histories and techniques.

The fall is the time of the holiday we call Sukkot, which is also called the Feast of tabernacles where for 8 days we ‘dwell’ in booths that we build in our backyards. Each night we have been visiting one of the sukkahs in town. It is a joyful time and one where we look at our lives (being outdoors more, we spend less time with our “stuff”) and see what our real priorities are and should be. It is reported that on his deathbed Sam Walton the founder of Walmart and one of the “richest” people in the world had these last words “I blew it”. In his successful quest for fame and fortune- he had forgone close loving relationships with his family and others. I think we can all learn from this. Einstein on the other hand said (not on his deathbed) “Try not to become a man of success. Try rather to become a person of values”. We all have a balancing act to play between work, family, friends, communities, etc. It isn’t easy as life in this 21st century seems to be filled with busyness that this technological age has made for us. My son bought me a T-shirt that I wear quite often when I see patients. It says “Trust Me, I’m a Doctor”. I

get a lot of nice comments about it. Is it in the same vein as “Trust Me, I’m a Lawyer” or “Trust Me, I’m a Used Car Salesman”? I am not exactly sure what the manufacturer had in mind but definitely trust in physicians has decreased over the past decade or two and it is up to us to be people of integrity as we represent a profession with some of the most wonderful techniques to help people that exist today.

Product of The Month

Coconut Oil Supreme (1-800-922-1744) This will be more of a personal testimony. I come from a family of at least 3 generations of migraine sufferers. My most vivid memories of my mother while growing up was her lying in bed a few times a week with a wet towel on her head moaning in pain. Probably 25-30 years ago I developed the same symptoms with the same frequency. Nothing would help except falling asleep which could take hours. Over the years I found a few things out about my headaches. I found that when I had a fungus- the frequency of headaches would increase to daily as it also would the few times a year that I became sensitive to tomatoes. Zinc could be an important factor for me in lessening the intensity. I could help so many of my patients become migraine free yet, the best I could do for myself was to cut the intensity of them and also cut the frequency down to 2 per week. At times I would come across a new technology or supplement that would give me a 2-3 week headache/migraine free period but then it would become ineffective and they would go back to their old pattern. I could greatly lessen them with prostaglandin inhibitors but that would lead to blood in my stool. Most herbs touted for relieving migraines would cause me to have more instead of less.

I am not sure why but a few months ago I decided to add coconut oil to my diet. Being the researcher that I am, I went to the health food store and tested all their organic brands and also 2 brands I found on the internet. The one listed above called Coconut Oil Supreme tested the best. I started ingesting 1 tablespoon a day. I would either “melt it” and drizzle it into a smoothie I was making or add it to hot cereal or steamed vegetables or rice. I wasn’t taking it for any particular reason. Over the last 2 months I have only had one headache! The only variable in my life that changed was the additional of the coconut oil. I do not have any physiological explanation for this (if you do please share it with me) but I am very happy about it. I did find that the other brands did not work as well for me. I test it on patients and it seems to strengthen about 50% of them. I haven’t started carrying it for patients though I have had many patients call and order it. Share your experiences with me as I am fascinated by it. I have also used it topically on areas of dry skin and of psoriasis and it seems to have a therapeutic effect though it takes a little while to be absorbed. I don’t find the coconut meat, crème or milk to have the same effect or test as well, just the oil.

SUCCESSFULLY TREATING

THE CHRONIC PATIENT

A Seminar taught by Dr Michael Lebowitz & Dr Jay Wilson

Available on either VHS or DVD

This seminar (taped Sept. 18th 2005) is geared to teach the physician a simple to use, effective protocol to treat patients with chronic fatigue, allergies, chemical sensitivities, dysbiosis (fungal, bacterial, parasitic, spirochete and viral infections), food sensitivities, altered intestinal permeability, toxic metal problems, adrenal and endocrine dysfunction, lymphatic dysfunction, nutritional imbalances, and chronic subluxations.
