I hope you all are well. We just came back from a trip to Arizona. While there I was able to work on a professional baseball player I have known for a few years, but never treated before. He is in AA and struggled throughout the 2006 season. In a special fall season they have in AZ in Oct and Nov to show off top minor league prospects, he was batting only .111 after his first week of play. After that I worked on him- correcting muscle imbalances, working on eye co-ordination issues, gait reflexes, subluxations, a dairy sensitivity, and supplementing with Thorne's (1-800-228-1966) Basic Nutrients III, L-Tyrosine, Cal-Mag Citramate, as well as Cod Liver Oil. His second week in the league he batted .467 with at least one hit in every game. We will have to see how the season progresses. His improvement could always be co-incidence but I do think the treatment played a role in his performance. We hope to do a follow up visit in 2 weeks. I often wonder what would happen if a group of the best AK practitioners were hired as primary care physicians traveling with a professional sports team. Maybe some day we will find out.
Another highlight of the trip was that I spent a Sunday afternoon addressing about a dozen naturopathic students (mostly 4th year students) as well as 4 chiropractors. It was an open lecture mainly answering questions, demonstrating techniques, and covering a wide range of applied kinesiology topics. I did it for free and really enjoyed it. We may do a follow up in November. The students were very bright and my friend Dr. Don Baker DC, ND has been working with them for awhile teaching them the foundations of applied kinesiology. TECHNIQUE MODIFICATION
For years now I have been teaching how to diagnose if people have problems with electro-magnetic fields by placing a source of EMF's (electric clock, hairdryer, etc.) next to the pineal reflex GV-20 and then seeing if a "strong" muscle "weakens". We typically find about 10% of patients will experience muscle weakness on this test. Recently we have begun to place the EMF source just lateral to the patients ear (if they use a cell phone we have them place it on the side they use the cell phone). Testing this way, we find closer to 50% of our patients test positive. We have been researching different herbs to block EMF's as I don't feel any of those items you plug in or wear around your neck or place in your pocket to "block or neutralize EMF's" do much. Often they will block the finding initially and for a short time after, but then will not after that (especially if you are doing double-blind testing). I hope to tell you about an herb in the next month or two that works well for EMF protection. Preliminary findings look promising but I need to do more clinical trials to understand it better, so stay tuned.
