I hope you all are doing well. By the time you get this I should be teaching my Phoenix seminar but it is not too late to attend the LA class on April 22nd. We do hope to make a DVD set from the class. I will be teaching a shorter version of it at ICAK in Dallas May 31st and continue to teach one on one seminars at our house and/or office.
New Product:
Vital Guard Supreme (Supreme Nutrition 1-800-922-1744)- Vitalguard Supreme is made from the ground flowers of organic Chrysanthemum morifolium. It is a broad spectrum anti-microbial as well as having many other valuable properties.
In China, the flowers of this particular species have been used for over 4,000 years as an important plant medicine. Traditionally, Chrysanthemum has been used in China to treat headaches, sore throats, and fevers, as well as eye disorders like red eyes, blurred vision, and near-sightedness. Chrysanthemum can be used to treat hypertension, vertigo, dizziness, and help resolve certain skin disorders like abscesses and ulcers 1. It has also been used to treat insomnia in Korea.
Chrysanthemum flowers and leaves are rich in flavinoids, which are a class of compounds known to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, and cardioprotective properties. The two principal flavinoids in Chrysanthemum are Luteolin and Apigenin, as well as some Quercetin. Modest amounts of essential oils are present in the flowers, 0.2-.85%. Chrysanthemum also contains Isobutyl-amides, immune modulating compounds also found in Echinacea.
Most importantly, Chrysanthemum has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, and anti-viral properties, is cardioprotective, neuroprotective, and has potent antioxidant properties. I have found it to be especially useful in a wide variety of viral infections both acute and chronic, as well as bacterial infections including Lyme. Almost across the board when patients begin taking Chrysanthemum they report a greater sense of wellbeing, and some report increased-energy. I’ve also seen great effects with patients who suffer from chronic aches and pains as in Fibromyalgia. With muscle testing, it generally seems to strengthen most people in the clear. I find Chrysanthemum to be useful in a broad range of applications from a gentle cardiovascular and brain tonic to a potent anti-microbial agent.
Chrysanthemum is very safe, large quantities having been tested in animal models for extended periods of time (Rat models fed up to 15g/kg body mass for 14 days in one study and 1,280g/kg body mass for 26 weeks in another study, both with no adverse effects) 2.
Chrysanthemum extracts have been shown to be cytotoxic against Mycobacterium tuberculosis 3. Extracts have also been shown to be anti-mutagenic against Salmonella typhimirium 4. Of special note were several studies, which showed strong effects at inhibiting HIV by both interfering with the integrase enzyme as well as direct anti-HIV activity in cell-culture 5.
In one study, extracts from Chrysanthemum significantly reduced neuronal defects, extent of infarction, brain edema, and improved the production of super-oxide dismutase (SOD), in brain tissue following ischemic stroke in animal models 6. In another study, Chrysanthemum extracts were shown to be protective against oxidative damage and cytotoxic drugs by reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) in brain tissue 7.
There is some evidence that Chrysanthemum is protective against damage from heavy metals, particularly lead. In one study, Chrysanthemum extracts were shown to be protective against lead-induced oxidative injury, as well as being hepatoprotective and nephroprotective 8.
In heart tissue, Chrysanthemum has been shown to be cardioprotective acting as an anti-arrhythmic agent, increasing the action of papillary heart muscles, and protecting against oxidized LDL, the precursor to atherosclerotic plaque8, 9. It has also been shown to prevent apoptosis of aortic vascular smooth muscle cells 10. High doses of Chrysanthemum have been used over a course of several months for Coronary Artery disease leading to improvements in 86% of patient symptom scores and 45% improvement on objective EKG findings 11.
In summary we test Vitalguard Supreme on all patients due to its general health enhancing properties and broad range of applications (as we do with all the other Supreme Nutrition products). It is a great anti-microbial and possibly like Morinda can act as a preventative from various microbes. It also appears to improve health in general. When using it as an anti-microbial we let our testing dictate whether we use it as a stand alone or in combination with other products such as Morinda, Melia, Golden Thread, and Schisandra.
We have read of no contraindications during pregnancy (after exhaustively searching for them) so it might be the treatment of choice when treating dysbiosis during pregnancy but as with any herb during pregnancy monitor your patients closely.

When I was studying Nutrition I was wondering how I was going to figure out how to help my clients without guessing. I had been seeing Dr Lebowitz for my own health for awhile and I decided muscle testing would be a great tool. I have a fifty five year old client who first came to see me in November 2011. She contracted Lyme 11 years previously from a tick in Pennsylvania. She went through the typical western medicine protocol with no success. She complained of being tired, foggy headed, joint pain and weight gain. She tested positive for the Mixed Virus, Epstein Barr Virus, Rickettsia, Mixed Parasite 1, Proteus Vulgaris, Histamine, Borrelia Burgdorferi, Protozoa Various, Mixed Parasite External, Candida Albicans, Candida Glabrata, Albumin, Gliadin, Zein, Alpha Solanine, All Methylxanthines, Copper, Iron, Cadmium, Chromium, and Tin (vials from AK Test Kits 1-888-323-0625). I put her on an antifungal diet, had her remove all food sensitivities, and put her on Camu, Morinda, Goldenthread, and Takesumi (all from Supreme Nutrition 1-800-922-1744).
When I retested her a month later she didn’t feel much improvement. She admitted to not being compliant on the diet, but she did take the supplements. She tested positive for Mixed Fungus 1, Mixed Bacteria, Protozoa Various, Borrelia Burgdorferi, Candida Albicans, Candida Glabrata, Methylxanthines, Alpha Solanine, Zein, Albumin, Gold, Tin, and Manganese. I retested her five weeks later and she said her head was clear and her energy and joints were much better. She was very pleased. When I retested her three weeks later she was struggling with what she thought was a cold, but she felt like all her Lyme symptoms were gone. Here's another case history, hot off the presses.
A mother came in with a colicky baby. She had not gotten a good night's sleep since he was born 3 months ago. He cried constantly throughout the day, and slept only 2-3 hours each night. She said he had been very active in the womb, much more than any of her previous children. He had a history of being very gassy, and recently got over a bout of thrush. She had a history of vasospasms in her breast, and was using Nystatin and vasoline locally on the breast to prevent soreness and pain.
Both mother and child (using surrogate testing) showed fungus, gluten and dairy sensitivities (vials by AK Test Kits). The child reacted to the mother's nursing.
She would not take any supplements that did not have kosher certification, so we tested her for and found Kyolic Garlic, and a probiotic. We took her off all gluten containing foods. She had been off dairy for several months, so we had no recommendation there. We desensitized child to mother's nursing.
She called a few minutes ago. Within 3 days, the baby has stopped crying, and is sleeping well at night.

6. Body Restoration An Owners Manual An updated and expanded version of my first book Body Mechanics published almost 30 years ago. Part 1 has a chapter on each organ/gland. Each chapter teaches basic anatomy and physiology, causes and symptoms of dysfunction, as well as simple treatments your patient can do at home to complement your treatment. Part 2 explains the role of dysbiosis, food intolerances, toxic metals, nutritional deficiencies and neurotransmitter imbalances in health.
The book is a great review for the doctor, but better yet it is a great tool to sell to your patient. It will give them a better understanding of how their body works and the causes of health and disease, as well as the rationale of why you treat the way you do. It is very pro chiropractic. Volume discounts are available should you want to sell them to your patient and a kindle edition should hopefully be available in the future. Some time later in the year my wife hopes to publish a cookbook to complement this book.
