Dear Colleagues
I hope you all are well. We are in the process of getting ready to return to Colorado after 5 months in Honolulu. I will be back to seeing patients in late March in Grand Junction and continuing with my one on one seminars in Colorado also (see last page for details).
My next group seminar will be the preconference seminar at ICAK in LA in early June. I encourage you all to come and also to join ICAK as well. We all owe a great debt to Dr. Goodheart and the organization his work spawned. For so many of us, our practices would be so different if Dr. Goodheart had not expanded what manual muscle testing could do. Some of you younger docs never had a chance to see some of the founders of AK who have passed on: Drs Goodheart, Thie, Thomas, etc. etc. There are still some great docs who have been doing AK since its inception or close to it that attend these meetings and schmoozing with them can be a real highlight of the conference. I’ve been a member since 1987 so I am not quite an old timer though I had been practicing AK since 1977. Sometimes we forget how much knowledge our elders have. If you come, definitely say hello to me.
Seminar video now available as download via ICAK
Our popular 2012 seminar is now available online at http://lebowitzilearnak.kajabi.com/sp/14763-ilearnak-lebowitz. For only $139 (approximately half the money goes to support ICAK research), it will never be cheaper than this. If you take a small exam afterwards you can get 6 hours of credit towards your ICAK hours for diplomate status. It will teach you our whole protocol (minus the mycotoxins which is on our website). You do not need to be an ICAK member to purchase.
Case Histories

A current patient came to me in May with right side vocal cord paralysis. She could only speak in a whisper. The EENT tried steroids which didn’t help and said that it would take 6-8 months to heal, or never change at all. Out of desperation she asked me if acupuncture would help which I do use; but asked her more questions about when it started and found out that she had a series of dental procedures done 2 weeks prior.
Testing showed weakness on the Mercury, mixed Virus 2, dairy, Fungus 2 and Rickettsia vials (AK test Kits 1-888-323-0625). She was put on Takeusmi Supreme, Melia Supreme (Supreme Nutrition 1-800-922-1744) and Alpha Lipoic Acid. Infrared/red laser was done for 15 minutes to the right anterior neck region with acupuncture used on SP6, ST 36, GB 34, LIV3, LI4, LI20, ST12, KI27.
I didn’t see the patient until 4 weeks later and was shocked when she came and was speaking almost normal! She claimed she was 60% improved! Testing again showed mercury and dairy, but other vials that previously tested were now negative. She needed Takesumi Supreme, Camu Supreme, and Alpha Lipoic acid. I sent an email to her yesterday because I hadn’t seen her in over 2 months. Her response was that she was 100% improved and her voice was normal.
I should also mention that she is a nurse in a busy OBGYN practice. Coming from an allopathic setting to a chiropractor using kinesiology to show the damaging effects of mercury was an eye opening event for not only her but the people she works with.

Donald is a 47 year old man. He has been under treatment by a neurologist for 2 years with a bad case of neuropathy (bilateral) that has not been responsive to any treatment. For 9 years he has been plagued with dizzyness, chronic fatigue and brain fog- also unresponsive. He was taking lisinopril, lorazepam, and gemfibrozil. He had some toxic exposures many years ago from a malfunctioning furnace and living in a house with a contaminated water supply. His 19 year old daughter exhibits the same symptoms but is presently living out of state.
On our first exam he weakened on the following vials by AK Test Kits (1-888-323-0625): Mixed Fungus, Casein, Gliadin, Caffeine, Thallium, Beryllium, Chromium, and Platinum. I usually do not test all the metals but in cases of "idiopathic" neurologic symptoms I do. He strenghtened on Morinda and Melia Supreme (Supreme Nutrition 1-800-922-1744) and they blocked the fungus vial. He also strengthened on Takesumi Supreme which blocked the positive metals. We supplemented with all 3 and took him off refined sweetening, fermented foods and the positive food toxins listed above. We re-examined him 17 days later. He said his fatigue had improved 60% and his neuropathy 40%. Since metals can take a long time I was quite pleased with the neuropathy improvement after only 17 days. He tested negative on the fungus vial and no longer needed Morinda or Melia. He still needed to stay off the food toxins. The metals no longer tested, but the Takesumi did as did Manjistha Supreme (helps remove toxins from lymph), zinc picolinate and alpha-lipoic acid. Our guess is that we started mobilizing the toxins and his body was ready to get a little more aggressive in clearing them thus the addition of manjistha and lipoic acid.
This patient was right before I left for Hawaii so he is a work in progress and we have referred him to a doctor in Grand Junction to continue the work

1) Hello Dr. Lebowitz, I hope that this note finds you doing well. My name is Jack Wise and I am a Logan chiropractic student and will be graduated this April. I have been practicing AK for 3 years and have 400 basic seminar hours from Drs. Louis Boven and Cathy Conable. This past summer I came across your dysbiosis techniques in the school library and immediately became intrigued. I then started using your dysbiosis techniques as best as I could without learning from you in person. I quickly familiarized myself with Supreme Nutrition Products and immediately began using the products on clinic patients, classmates, friends, family and of course myself. The clinical results have been phenomenal. Similar stories to those that you have shared in your sporadic newsletter. I would like to thank you for your dedication and guidance for inspired AK'ers.
Please let me know if you are planning on doing any seminars this year. Also, I am interested in doing a personal seminar sometime next January if you are in Hawaii at that time. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
2) From Michael Polsinelli DC: If a patient has chronic back pain- check Rosemary Supreme, E, Selenium, B-6. Adductor muscle go weak bilaterally when exposed to parabens and other xenoestrogens, so get them off of them.
3) I’ve mentioned this before but don’t rely on the metal composite vial as a screen. Too many metals cancel each other out. A copper deficiency can cancel a mercury toxicity so the vial will test neutral. Test the important toxic metals individually for a better screen. It will only take 2 minutes.
Editorial
I know some of you will disagree with me but I have been dismayed at how many AK docs rely on labs instead of AK to develop nutritional/supplement plans for their patients. They feel labs are objective while AK is not.
I have nothing against labs. They can give us clues on what is happening with patients and feedback on how our protocols are working but it is rare that you should treat a lab value. What if you found a deficiency of a nutrient on a lab test? Do you give the nutrient? If you haven’t gotten to the cause of the deficiency are you fixing anything?
Dysbiosis can lower all nutrient levels, toxic metals can displace and lower certain nutrients, food reactions can make the body make more histamine, kinins, prostaglandins etc. and as a result lower specific nutrient levels. Adrenal stress due to overwork can do similar things.
Or what if you find abnormal swings in cortisol on a lab- could it be secondary to methylxanthines or could that vitamin D deficiency be secondary to a solanine toxicity and using too much sunscreen? Why not treat the causes and see what normalizes. I get emails from lots of docs who say how much our protocols help patients compared to when they used to supplement from lab tests.
An email I received this morning from a doc about a featured speaker at the upcoming ICAK meeting said :I cannot totally trash ….. as he is kind of the reason I got into integrative medicine but I know for a fact that he trashed AK saying "No one can dispute Blood results, tough to get respect pushing on someone's arm.". I find it interesting that I have done both techniques, yours and his. My practice is 100x more successful because of yours and I have at 3 MD/Cardios referring to me, they could care less what I'm doing to get results. They just care about results.
Dr L’s comment: I agree that it is hard to argue a blood test and muscle testing can be more subjective but I also agree with the email that you will get much better results treating with a good nutritional approach that utilizes AK to treat and prescribe as opposed to treating solely by lab values.
Dr Lebowitz tentative schedule
We intend to be back in CO Mid March and available for one on one seminars there once again (until March 10th I am still available in Honolulu for classes). A class that runs 9:00-4:00 cost $300. I love the one on ones so we can tailor make them to fit your needs whether a basic seminar or an advanced one if you know our work. We can also help get you up to speed if you are new to muscle testing and need help with it.
I am intending to be at the ICAK seminar in LA June 6-9. There are plans to teach my seminar there June 6th ay 9:00-1:00. I will also be presenting my paper (co-written and co-presented with Jeff Robinson DC) on mycotoxins during the conference as well as having a class co-taught with Dr Steve Gangemi for students and new practitioners on how to have a successful low volume practice (no that is not an oxymoron).

5. Body Restoration An Owners Manual An updated and expanded version of my first book Body Mechanics published almost 30 years ago. Part 1 has a chapter on each organ/gland. Each chapter teaches basic anatomy and physiology, causes and symptoms of dysfunction, as well as simple treatments your patient can do at home to complement your treatment. Part 2 explains the role of dysbiosis, food intolerances, toxic metals, nutritional deficiencies and neurotransmitter imbalances in health.
The book is a great review for the doctor, but better yet it is a great tool to recommend to your patient. It will give them a better understanding of how their body works and the causes of health and disease, as well as the rationale of why you treat the way you do. It is very pro chiropractic. It is available on kindle at http://www.amazon.com/Body-Restoration-Owners-Manual-ebook/dp/B0050653C4/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1353354004&sr=1-1 Or if you don’t have a kindle http://bodyrestorationanownersmanual.com/html/Order.html and we will send you a PDF of it
