NEW PRODUCT

Vidanga Supreme (Supreme Nutrition 800-922-1744) is the powdered berry of the plant Embelia Ribes. These berries have a long history of use going back over 2,000 years in both Unani and Ayurvedic medicine. It is also known as false black pepper and is native to Asia and India.

Literature shows potential key indications to be for parasitic worms, as well as with methylation and hyperhomocysteinemia issues.

Research shows the potential beneficial uses:

1) Anthelmintic (expels worms) - including ascarides (a common small intestine inhabiting worm) (1) and Tapeworms (syed). The worms can often be observed in the stool. In acute worm cases, Ayurvedic texts recommend a dose as high as 2-3 gms daily for children and 6-12 grams for adults for several days (3).

2) Hyperhomocysteinemia (4,5) - an animal study demonstrated that rats with hyperhomocysteinemia significantly decreased the levels of homocysteine, LDH, total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-C and VDL-C and increased the HDL-C levels in serum. The results were comparable to folic acid.

Clinically this is a fascinating study as at Supreme Nutrition Products we prefer to use herbs to isolated vitamins. It is unknown at this point whether it upregulates certain genes, or acts as a methyl donor to achieve this, but we encourage you to try it in cases that need methylation support.

3) Antibacterial activity - including staph mutans, known to contribute to dental carries and plaque as well as other forms of staph (6). It is often added to oil pulling formulas due to the aforementioned effects. It should be looked at as a broad spectrum antimicrobial as it also has effects against certain fungi.

4) It has strong analgesic properties (7)

5) It has been used as a reversible contraceptive agent for both males and females (8,9). There is much research on this but do not recommend it for this purpose as a sole contraceptive agent. We do advise you though to not take it if you want to initiate a pregnancy in the near future.

6) Possesses anticonvulsant activity (10)

7) Possesses antipsychotic activity (11)

Dosage: 1-2 capsules 3x/day

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not take this supplement if pregnant, trying to get pregnant (males and females), or while breastfeeding.

I think it is great to have a whole herb product to address methylation. We have only done one pre and post lab so far but in that case over a month’s period our patient experienced a 21% drop in homocysteine levels (12.7 to 10.5) with a dose of 2 caps twice daily. We will do another follow up in a few months.

Case History Stephen Tyks DC- Maine

50 year old female practice member, undergoing chiropractic for motor vehicle accident showed me her swollen hand recently. There were no breaks in the skin about the hand. Because she has rheumatoid arthritis in her hands I did nothing initially, thinking her less than optimal diet may be the cause of her flare. Three days later, the swelling was triple in size. She was told to see her primary doctor or go to the ER today due to the rapid progression of inflammation and lack of use of the hand, essential for caring for her paraplegic husband and her riding horse. AK testing indicated Mixed Bacteria 2 vial was positive. Individual vial, Mycobacterium Intracellulare from kit 2 was the only vial testing positive over the hand. Kits from AK test Kits aktestkits@aol.com

Mucuna Supreme, also known as Velvet Bean, Cowitch, Werepe, Karara, Agbara, best know for dopamineric qualities in the brain, was the only sample in the Supreme Nutrition kit (800-922-1744) that negated the myobacterium vial and strengthened a weak muscle in the clear. Practice member took Mucuna 9/day for two days, stopping Mucuna because the swelling was entirely resolved to the usual rheumatoid presentation and regained usual function of the hand.

Sciencedirect.com:

Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex, also known as M. avium complex (MAC), consists of pathogenic, saprophytic, nontuberculous mycobacteria that are contracted through exposure to soil, water, or infected tissues. Entry into the body can be through the respiratory, oral, and cutaneous routes. A summary of nonhuman primate mycobacterioses is found in Table 17.46. Nonhuman primates are resistant to experimental infection with M. avium-intracellulare; however, macaques are highly susceptible to infection during progressive SIV infection and MAC represents the most common disseminated bacterial infection in simian AIDS (Mansfield et al., 1995).

4. Body Restoration An Owners Manual - An updated and expanded version of my first book Body Mechanics published almost 30 years ago. Part 1 has a chapter on each organ/gland. Each chapter teaches basic anatomy and physiology, causes and symptoms of dysfunction, as well as simple treatments your patient can do at home to complement your treatment. Part 2 explains the role of dysbiosis, food intolerances, toxic metals, nutritional deficiencies and neurotransmitter imbalances in health. The book is a great review for the doctor, but better yet it is a great tool to recommend to your patient. It will give them a better understanding of how their body works and the causes of health and disease, as well as the rationale of why you treat the way you do. It is very pro chiropractic. It is available for $1.99 on kindle at https://www.amazon.com/Body-Restoration-Owners-Manual-ebook/dp/B0050653C4/

5. Body Restoration Cookbook - This companion volume to the above book was written by Cynthia Lebowitz and is now available free online (donations accepted). A wonderful tool for your patients as it contains almost 100 recipes- most without gluten, dairy, nightshades, etc. Body Restoration Cookbook

6. God’s Preventative Medicine- my latest book. It explains how the Levitical Priests dealt with fungal dysbiosis both preventatively and treatment wise as well as the reasons behind some of the other health laws of the Torah. It is a short easy to understand book and fascinating for the student of health and the Bible God's Preventative Medicine
