Dear Colleagues

We hope you are well and have a wonderful holiday and New Year. Noah and I are planning to teach in Chicago and Denver this year though no dates have been set. I may also be teaching in Bologna, Italy in the early summer. Jan 13-15 Noah and I will be presenting at the ICAK-USA Winter Meeting in Honolulu. This should be a good and relaxing meeting. (Sign up here). It is a great hotel and a very convenient location to the beach, great restaurants etc. Oahu is my favorite island for hiking in Hawaii. Come visit Maui afterwards and take a one on one class with us at our office (see last part of newsletter for details). We will also be presenting at the ICAK-USA summer meeting in July in Phoenix and Noah will be presenting at the ICAK international meeting in Montreal in May.

New Product

Scutellaria Baicalensis Tincture (Supreme Nutrition Products)

This may be our last tincture product. We wanted a great antiviral (Elderberry), antiparasitic (Black Walnut) and antifungal for children. Scutellaria and Black Walnut are also antibacterial.

I have been using Scutellaria as an anticandida, antifungal for children going back before Supreme Nutrition Products started. Ours, like our other tinctures are extracted with organic cane alcohol which we then boil off the majority of and replace with organic glycerine. If a tincture doesn’t state the alcohol is organic it is very possibly a GMO corn derivative. We prefer to dose with capsules if possible in adults (if able to swallow caps) and children old enough as any extraction can change the ratio of natural constituents to some extent. Just to refresh your memory about all the uses of scutellaria (one of our broadest spectrum products) read the following (references available on our website): https://shop.supremenutritionproducts.com/scutellaria-supreme-1/
Scutellaria baicalensis, Huang Qin, or Chinese Skullcap, is a flowering herb in the mint family that has been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The root is used as medicine and has been found to be very rich in flavinoids including; baicalein, baicalin, wogonin, norwogonin and oroxylin A [1].
In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is classically used to clear damp-heat which encompasses conditions like fever, nausea, dysentery, diarrhea, ulcers, tonsillitis, urinary tract infections, bronchitis, and pneumonia. It was also seen as an agent to clear toxins from the body and stop excessive bleeding as well as calm the fetus during pregnancy. Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown to have a synergistic effect when combined with beta-lactam antibiotics, thereby restoring their effectiveness against multidrug resistant bacteria like MRSA [2].
Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown in research to be a potent anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective [3, 4, 5, 6], cardioprotective [7], hepatoprotective [8, 9], kidney-protective [10, 11], anti-allergy, and a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent [fungus, bacteria, virus, etc.] Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown to increase glutathione, a potent antioxidant [12]. There have been hundreds of studies on this herb. It has been shown to decrease damage after stroke and heart attack, and improve memory and cognition. It has also been shown to be a potent anti-inflammatory, which can both reduce joint pain [13] as well as allergy symptoms [14]. It has also been shown to be a potent antimicrobial against many bacteria including Salmonella, Typhimurium, Senftenberg, and Enteritidis species [15]. It has also been shown effective against candida species [16].
The flavinoids in Scutellaria baicalensis have been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory effects, blocking TNF-a, COX and Interleukin 6 [17] and exhibiting positive effects on conditions like inflammatory bowel disease [18]. It also inhibits Th-17 thus may be useful in autoimmunity issues. Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown to have potent anticancer effects for many different types of cancers including colon cancer [19], lung cancer [20, 21], breast cancer [22, 23], leukemias, liver cancer [24], brain cancers [25], stomach cancer [26], and squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck [27]. Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown to decrease inflammation in the airways and has been shown very useful in treating asthma [28, 29].
Scutellaria baicalensis has protective effects on cardiac tissue and increases blood flow to the periphery lending itself as a treatment for erectile dysfunction and other circulation issues [30]. Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown to have potent anti-viral effects, particularly against H1N1 Flu virus [31] as well as dengue virus [32]. Scutellaria baicalensis has anti-coagulant effects and works by inhibiting platelet aggregation [33]. Studies in China suggest Baicalin (in scutellaria) may promote Treg cell differentiation and regulatory activity and may serve as a promising natural product for treating autoimmune inflammatory diseases [36].
Lastly studies have shown the herb to have a glucose-lowering effect, and therefore has implications for treating type II diabetes [34]. When analyzed for active chemical compounds in Scutellaria it was discovered both serotonin and melatonin were present [35]. Serotonin and Melatonin are both neurotransmitters where decreased amounts can cause depression and/or sleep deprivation. Scutellaria can also help with those who have too high of levels of catecholamines. Scutellaria baicalensis is very safe and has been used for thousands of years safely in pregnancy to help overcome acute colds and flus, however long-term use should be avoided in pregnancy [36].

Typical dose: 7 drops 3x per day per 50 pounds of body weight (do the math accordingly)

This is a new patient who came in on Saturday for the first time. This 12 year old boy was having constant chronic abdominal pain. Some reflux, exhaustion and just a constant state of not feeling well. His mother brought him to the MD and he was diagnosed with EOE (Eosinophilic Esophagitis). They wanted to start him on protein pump inhibitors and steroids. The mother was telling a friend of hers who had brought her children in to me for digestive issues and she called me.

MATERIALS AVAILABLE FROM DR. MICHAEL LEBOWITZ

1 Lebowitz Protocol June 2022 Seminar on Vimeo - Professionally filmed in 4K in the office

This class teaches an effective, easy, and fast way to "diagnose" and treat dysbiosis (fungal, bacterial, parasitic, viral, Lyme), food reactions, lectin sensitivities, metal and chemical toxicity/sensitivity, coagulation issues, organ dysfunction, EMF issues, and much more. It is well suited to both the newcomer to the Lebowitz protocol as well as physicians who have been following Dr. Lebowitz's work for many years.

A basic ability to perform manual muscle testing is necessary to utilize these techniques. Correcting the above mentioned issues can help alleviate many symptoms, including various gastro-intestinal issues, dermatological and respiratory problems, fatigue, brain fog, headaches, inflammatory conditions, fibromyalgia, auto-immune issues, neurological symptoms, chronic musculoskeletal conditions, etc.

New techniques to help eliminate false negatives, which are very common in muscle testing, are discussed and demonstrated as well as false positives, which often occur frequently in supplement testing. The class comes with a full, easy to follow, set of notes and Drs. Lebowitz is always easily accessible to answer questions you may have after you have started implementing the material.

This is the most in-depth, as well as the highest quality, seminar we have ever recorded.

In addition to the seminar itself we have a 15 minute recording of Dr. Michael Lebowitz taking a new patient history. We also have a 25 minute video on what to expect on a follow-up visit and how to approach continued care.

2. Personal Seminars with Dr. Lebowitz: Dr. Lebowitz teaches seminars to one or two doctors at a time at his office on Maui. This is probably the best way to learn our protocols with a personalized, hands on experience. Cost is $400 per physician and the class runs 9AM-4PM. For more info or to schedule call us at 970-623-9565. Noah Lebowitz DC is also available to teach the class (and sometimes you get us both).

3. Test Kits for Dr. Lebowitz protocol - Call Cynthia at AK Test Kits 970 201-7406 or see our website http://www.michaellebowitzdc.com for more details. These kits will greatly simplify and speed up your testing making you more efficient and accurate in patient assessment. These are “diagnostic kits”. Supplement kits are ordered directly from Supreme Nutrition 1-800-922-1744. In our protocol we typically use the protocol kit, biofilm kit and food kit A. Other kits as needed.

4. Body Restoration An Owners Manual - An updated and expanded version of my first book Body Mechanics published almost 30 years ago. Part 1 has a chapter on each organ/gland. Each chapter teaches basic anatomy and physiology, causes and symptoms of dysfunction, as well as simple treatments your patient can do at home to complement your treatment. Part 2 explains the role of dysbiosis, food intolerances, toxic metals, nutritional deficiencies and neurotransmitter imbalances in health. The book is a great review for the doctor, but better yet it is a great tool to recommend to your patient. It will give them a better understanding of how their body works and the causes of health and disease, as well as the rationale of why you treat the way you do. It is very pro chiropractic. It is available for $1.99 on kindle at https://www.amazon.com/Body-Restoration-Owners-Manual-ebook/dp/B0050653C4/

5. Body Restoration Cookbook - This companion volume to the above book was written by Cynthia Lebowitz and is now available free online (donations accepted). A wonderful tool for your patients as it contains almost 100 recipes- most without gluten, dairy, nightshades, etc. Body Restoration Cookbook

6. God’s Preventative Medicine- It explains how the Levitical Priests dealt with fungal dysbiosis both preventatively and treatment wise as well as the reasons behind some of the other health laws of the Torah. It is a short easy to understand book and fascinating for the student of health and the Bible God's Preventative Medicine
