Dear Colleagues:

We thank those of you that attended our Fort Myers seminar. It was a great seminar. The only problem was the video did not come out (picture but no sound). Fortunately, the material is very similar to our Las Vegas video. We will continue to offer the Las Vegas video with the new set of notes from this seminar. See page 4 for ordering.

On our recent trip I picked up a book at Barnes & Noble I found fascinating. It is called LIGHTS OUT by T. S. Wiley. It talks about the relationship between diet, sleep, seratonin, melatonin, cortisol, insulin, prolactin, endotoxin LPS, homocystine, etc. It gave me many ideas to ponder and I will be trying some on my patients. The publisher is Pocket Books. Ms. Wiley is a medical anthropologist and though I may disagree theologically with her, I think her conclusions and reasoning in most cases is sound and should be taken seriously. Of all the health books I have read in the past 2 years - this one has given me the most food for thought. I recommend you read it and if you do, let me know what you think.

We are still teaching individualized seminars here at our Grand Junction home/office. It is the best way to master our techniques. Sundays or Mondays are the preferred teaching days and an all day one on one seminar is $300. It includes treatment of the physician and lunch.

AD Spectra View unit for color therapy. All original slides and wooden storage box. New $600. Asking $350 O.B.O. Call Dr. Conrad at (402) 464-9777. For those of you that remember I helped develop this machine many years ago and found it helped bring up repressed memories and stabilize tough patients.

CASE HISTORIES

1) Frank, a 40-year old man has suffered from what was diagnosed as cluster headaches for 20 years. When they started it was shortly after a car accident, a divorce, and a few years of heavy recreational drugs. He had been to numerous DC's most of who aggravated his symptoms, though one in Tucson could keep his symptoms manageable if he was adjusted by him 3x/week regularly for 2-3 months.

On our initial visit we found fungal involvement and sensitivities to dairy, nightshades, and peanuts. We desensitized him, put him on a diet and supplemented with SF722 and Basic Nutrients 3. We adjusted him and worked on the left levator scapula muscle. For the 1st time in 20 years Frank "had a perfectly clear head". He remained asymptomatic for 11 months until he "sneezed it out" and he returned with the headaches and jaw pain. We found a fungal involvement again (Frank needs both cervical misalignment in combination with fungal involvement to trigger the headaches). The same sensitivities returned and we worked on the right levator scap., upper trapezius, masseter and temporalis. We supplemented with SF722 and Pic Mins. He has been headache free again now - this time so far for 5 months.

Often there is a predisposition to a certain symptom - be it headache, joint pain, dermatitis, depression, asthma, etc. and it will only become symptomatic when the combination of dysbiosis, sensitivities, deficiencies, subluxations, etc., goes beyond your bodies threshold level to cope. Often one variable is not enough to cause the problem. That is why, so often, when you fix dysbiosis and food sensitivities and subluxations -pollen allergies will leave without treating them directly, or your neck pain will leave, etc.

In many patients one problem will cause another. For example, a zinc deficiency leading to a wheat sensitivity, that when eaten subluxates C1. We need to be detectives and the results are very rewarding.

2) Kathy, a 60 year old, had been suffering for 4 years with chronic fatigue diagnosed as CMV by the Mayo Clinic. Besides fatigue, brain fog and mood swings and sensitivity to odors were other complaints. She also ran a low grade fever constantly. We found fungal involvement, sensitivity to dairy and tomatoes and treated her and supplemented with SF722, L-Tyrosine, and Glutathione. She returned in 3 weeks and was asymptomatic and continues to be well now (5 months later). She remains on maintenance doses of L-Tyrosine and Basic Nutrients (which tested on the 2nd visit). In many cases the body can deal with viruses by itself if you correct dysbiosis and deficiencies as we did in her case. In some cases you have to treat the virus directly to get optimal results

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

For those of you that read the health report in USA Weekend Online I recommended in a previous newsletter, about the moldy house in Texas that disabled its inhabitants - the TV show 48 Hours did a segment on it in late February that would be worthwhile watching if you can get a video of it.

PRODUCTS OF THE MONTH

1. Olive-X (Thorne research 1-800-228-1966) I have been aware of olive leaf extract and have been testing it for a number of years (even before anyone had it on the market) with sporadic results. At first the quality was not consistent. Recently the quality issues have been resolved and as a result, Thorne has decided to capsule it as a supplement. Without the fillers, binders, etc. it will be a superior product. It is an interesting product in that it has anti bacterial, parasitic, fungal, and viral properties. I do find SF722, Berbercap, and Artecin to show up more in their respective categories, but for the patients who those do not do the job, Olive-X is another good option to test. Recommended dose is one cap 3 times daily. It also has anti-oxidant effects, stimulates phagocytosis, and inhibits LDL oxidation.

2. Captomer-250 (Thorne)- Captomer as you know is 2,3 dimercaptosuccinic acid. I have written on it and refer you to my free Clinical Indications (see page 4) for details. I feel it is by far the best mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic chelator on the market. Some patients do better on low doses like 100-200 mg. daily, while others need much higher doses (PDR recommendations average 500 mg. t.i.d.). Thorne until now only had it in 100 mg. caps. This new 250 mg. cap is more cost effective for those needing higher doses.

3. DHA (Thorne)- Thorne is an Omega 3 essential fatty acid involved in proper neuronal and retinal function. It has also been found useful in treating ADHD and has anti-inflammatory properties. Most of my chronic patients need this at some point in treatment. Dose is one cap t.i.d.

4. TAPS (Thorne)- This product has the same hepatic supporting herbs as SAT (written up in my Clinical Indications free handout, see page 4) with the addition of picorhiza (an Ayurvedic botanical). Picorhiza has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, choloretic and liver cell regeneration effects. Dose is one cap t.i.d.

MATERIAL AVAILABLE FROM DR. MICHAEL LEBOWITZ

1. VIDEO: Correcting Chronic Health Problems 1998: This video seminar approximately 5 hours long will teach the physician a simple to apply, effective protocol to treat patients with chronic fatigue, allergies, chemical sensitivities, intestinal dysbiosis, (fungal, bacterial, parasitic, and viral infections), food sensitivities, altered intestinal permeability, toxic metal problems, endocrine dysfunction, nutritional imbalances, chronic pain and subluxation. Knowledge of basic muscle testing is helpful. A complete protocol is taught that you can start using immediately to treat even the most chronic patients. The video is suited for both the novice and the advanced practitioners in our work. A complete set of advanced notes accompanies the video. This video supersedes our previous ones and was taped at our 11/1/98 Las Vegas Seminar. The cost is $200 ppd.
