Jay Wilson and I are contemplating teaching a spring (April or May) seminar in NYC (either Manhattan or Laguardia). Please let us know if that would interest you (your response may determine if we do it) and which location is better. Call or email and let us know.
FYI
Often, if you have picked up a mild fungal problem it can take a week or so before it will show up with AK. When fungal prone patients of mine travel to suspect places (warm, moist, climates) I usually have them schedule with me 7-10 days after returning - as before then I may get a false negative reading. Often the patients do not develop symptoms until after they return, as the new variables on the trip seem to keep their system distracted.
Some people crash after trips due to chemical exposures and will test to need Anti-Oxidant, Selenium, Molybdenum, etc. for a short period to help conjugation and excretion of toxics. Some will test for metals -especially if they go to a vacation spot and eat lots of fresh fish and seafood and may need Captomer, Thiocid, Glutathione, etc.
Of course, parasites are also a possibility after a trip (especially south of the border). Artecin (now back in stock at Thorne) or Juglans can be quite useful. I did not mean to put a damper on peoples' winter travel plans but these are issues to be made aware of. Often we take a small ozonator when we travel (in case of a moldy motel room) and bring some SF722 and Artecin along just in case. If the room is suspect, we turn the ozonator on and leave for a few hours. It won't always stop you from developing a fungal problem but sometimes it does. It can also break down the cleaning chemicals they use more quickly.
CASE HISTORY
1. Doug, a 34-year-old painting contractor appeared in January, 2000 with what was medically diagnosed as Menieres disease with all the accompanying symptoms as well as fatigue, mood swings, and brain fog.
Our exam showed evidence of fungal and parasite involvement, and sensitivity to dairy. Copper and iron weakened on testing, as did TL to the lower sternum (which often implies excessive chemical exposure). We desensitized him, placed him on the appropriate diet and supplemented with the following products (all Thorne): SF722, Artecin, Selenium Picolinate, S.A.T. and Buffered C. Within 3 weeks all symptoms resolved and remain so 10 months later. He takes Buffered C on an as needed basis. For about 50% of my food and chemically intolerant patients, a heaping teaspoon of Buffered C in water or juice will greatly lesson or eliminate symptoms from an overexposure to chemicals and/or eating a food they have developed an intolerance to. This is one product we keep in our 'medicine' cabinet and take on trips out of town where we might get exposed to toxic chemicals.
2. A simple case: Rebecca, a 24 year-old-female was suffering from extreme fatigue after eating, stomach pains, frequent burping. She also complained of being grouchy and irritable, having a lack of concentration, fuzzy vision and brittle nails. We found fungal and parasite involvement and sensitivities to dairy and rice. We placed her on SF722, Artecin and Basic NutrientsIII, an appropriate diet, desensitized her, and "corrected a hiatal hernia."
Rebecca returned in 3 weeks totally asymptomatic. She needed to stay on Basic NutrientsIII and it tested like we needed to add L-Tyrosine. It is not uncommon that L-Tyrosine or other nutrients that did not show on an initial visit, will after
correcting dysbiosis, as the dysbiosis would interfere with absorption thus it does not show up in testing.
3. We have had a few cases recently, where placing patients on SF722 and/or Arabinex for other symptoms have caused multiple warts of patients to disappear. Arabinex, being strongly anti-viral makes good sense. In the case of SF722 I can only assume that by treating their fungal issues, sensitivities, etc. - their health improved to the point that the body was able to eradicate the warts.
We also had a case where a patient with chronic coccygeal pain for 2 years that had only been partially resolved by good aggressive treatment by two applied kinesiologists - quickly resolved (and stays so) after a patient was placed on Captomer-250.
Another patient with shoulder pain of 20 years duration unsuccessfully treated by some of the worlds' best body-workers (AK, acupuncture, deep tissue work, chiropractic, etc.) has been slowly and steadily resolving, with the use of Captomer-250. The mechanism is a little illusive, though in these type patients mercury always tests extremely positive over the symptomatic area.
NEW PRODUCTS
Petadolex - This is an anti-migraine product. It is felt that migraines may be due to constriction and subsequent relaxation of central vessels. This product which is a standardized extract of Petasites hybridus or Butterbur has anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic and cerebral vascular stabilizing effects. Butterbur has an affinity for central blood vessels and is shown to inhibit their contraction. It has been used successfully in Europe for over 25 years and has been proven effective in placebo-controlled, double-blinded studies.
It also may decrease leukotriene production, protects the gastrointestinal tract and may be quite helpful in asthma and bronchitis patients.
Glucosamine & Chondroitin - You can read about glucosamine sulfate under that product. This is a very popular and effective chondro-protective supplement that should be considered in any degenerative joint disease or in injury repair. Because Thorne's combination is free of stearic acid (which almost all other brands are not) it should have superior absorption and assimilation.
