Dear Colleagues:
I hope you all are doing well and had a great holiday season. Once again I would like to remind you of the seminar Jay Wilson and I will be teaching in Scottsdale in February (see page 3 for details and a registration form). It should be a great seminar and we hope to see many of you there. There will be some new material and we will not be video taping this class. We hope to see many of you there.
Products of The Month
1. Thyrocsin (Thorne Research 1-800-228-1966)- This new product from Thorne has all the components and co-factors the body needs to produce T4, de-iodinate it, and make the bio-active from of T3. L-Tyrosine is one of the products I use the most in my practice (and a major ingredient of Thyrocsin). It is necessary for the manufacture of epinephrine, dopamine and thyroid hormones. I see such positive changes in peoples moods, energy level and ability to lose weight when they take it. For patients that need additional co-factors, Thyrocsin tests better. Some patients do best taking a combination of the two (e.g. one Thyrocsin with one L-Tyrosine 2x/daily). I typically have people take supplements with Tyrosine earlier in the day (on awakening and mid morning) as occasionally the increased epinephrine production can cause insomnia if taken too late in the day.
2. Lycopene (Thorne)- Lycopene is a potent anti-oxidant that we have found very useful in patients with elevated PSA levels as well as other prostate disorders.
Studies show it is also useful in cardiovascular health as well as reducing the risk of many types of cancer.
3. Mediclear (Thorne) Most of you are familiar with Mediclear. Many of my patients become “addicted” to it because it boosts their energy level. I love it as a meal replacement (blended with either rice milk or grape juice and a banana). I think it is the best product of its kind on the market today. The rice protein has been changed to increase the protein to carbohydrate ratio. Two scoops now provide 26 grams of protein and only 12 grams carbohydrates (it use to be fairly equal amounts of both). If you use applied kinesiology to help determine supplementation, I suggest you keep some in a testing vial. The mylar packets (for people who get it that way as opposed to the bulk container) can at times give a false negative reading.
4. Alternative Medicine Review Monographs Vol 1 (Thorne)- This book (488 pages) contains almost 90 monographs for various vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs, etc. that most of us use frequently in our practices. These monographs (many previously published in Alternative medicine Review but this volume is so user friendly and well organized) go into Pharmacokinetics, Mechanisms of Action, Clinical Indications, Side Effects, Dosage, Warnings, and Contra-Indications. It is an invaluable resource for the physician to help in prescribing, dosing, and understanding more the mechanics behind the effects. I really do think it is an exceptional book that every physician should own.
5. Guardian of The Stone- I have to play the proud father for a minute. I have 2 great sons: Josiah who is 18 and Noah 15. Josiah has a passion for writing and has so far written 4 full length novels. To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect but when I read them I ended up loving them. I would call them G rated youth fantasy with lots of suspense and even a little romance. They are geared to youth and college aged folks though adults enjoy them too. Since breaking in as an author is so difficult, we decided to publish one for him and it was just released. It would be great if some of you would buy a copy for you children (or yourself). It can be gotten through Amazon.com (search under Josiah Lebowitz or Guardian of The Stone). Tell Josiah what you think of it. I asked him to write a three sentence ad “Seven quests… two hearts…one evil…one adventure…one stone…Guardian of the Stone Book 1 of The Verites Silex is the first in an epic fantasy trilogy for teens and up. With a deep twisting plot, believable characters, and plenty of action it is one fantasy you do not want to miss. Find out more at www.Josiahlebowitz.com”. Again you can order off Amazon or if you would like a signed copy you can send $22 ppd to Josiah at 2550 I Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81505.
6. I also wrote and executive produced my first CD in 2002 (it is a parody album of Jewish and Biblical oriented songs) called The Shleps that can be gotten for $15ppd.
That is enough self promoting for now and next newsletter I will keep it to a minimum and bring more case histories, clinical tidbits etc.
Upcoming Seminar by John Moore DC I have know John Moore since his student days many years ago and he is a great chiropractor in Portola Valley CA. He uses my protocols, Wally’s as well as his own and especially excels in treating athletes. John is teaching a seminar in LA on April 5th and May 3rd (same seminar twice due to the limited class size) on the use of the Percussor by Impac (I own this very useful instrument). The class is 9AM-6PM. Cost is $195 and each class is limited to 25 participants to maximize hands on experience. Call John at 650-851-4860 or email at jkmdc@earthlink.net to register of get a brochure.
Again thanks for putting up with all the ads and I will speak to you next month.
Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
