I hope you all are well. In just a few weeks- Sunday, June 24th, Jay Wilson and I will be teaching our newest version of our seminar, now entitled Treating The Complex Patient. On another note, I would also like to extend my congratulations to my friend and colleague Dr Tom Spiridellis of NYC for being appointed by the United States Olympic Committee to be the official USA Medical Staff Chiropractor for the August 2007 Para-Pan American Games. The games will be held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil from August 12th – 19th. Tom is a great AK doc and should be a major asset.
NEW PRODUCT
1 Neurochondria (Thorne Research 1-800-228-1966) Neurochondria is a new product by Thorne Research with the goal of slowing or preventing neurodegeneration. It is composed of Benfotiamine- a new, highly available form of vitamin B1, Coenzyme Q10, R-Lipoic Acid (most active form of alpha-lipoic acid), reduced glutathione, acetyl-L-carnitine, phosphatidlserine, methylcobalamin, and 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (the active form of folic acid).
Besides elderly people, we have found it to strengthen some college students and others who are engaged in highly cognitive work. My younger son Noah has found it particularly useful in his freshman year at ASU.
2 We have had some testimonials recently on Morinda Supreme (1-800-922-1744) that we hope to have on the website soon www.morindasupreme.com. One particularly interesting case involved giving it to a horse with amazing results in helping him overcome an allergic condition.
A Few Technique Tidbits
1.There are rare instances when you are using vials to test, where you will get false negatives on manual muscle testing. Today I had a new patient whose case history was extremely suggestive of parasites but on screening, the composites were all negative. A weak indicator muscle strengthened on both Artecin (Thorne) and Morinda Supreme (Mid American), and this is also highly suggestive of parasites. We went back and found that the mixed parasite vial was positive but only over the area of complaint. I look at this as a very localized issue that perhaps the whole body doesn’t even recognize. I wrote a paper on this about 15 years ago. I also have an RA patient and when we test foods, more show up over her swollen knee than over GV-20. You can expect findings like this in approximately 2-3% of patients (where the findings are localized and negative over GV-20). I only check this way if I feel I am not getting the type findings I expect on testing or if the patient isn’t making the type progress I expect to see.
2. When giving a therapeutic substance that blocks a positive composite vial or single remedy vial, I will almost never give the vitamin, herb, etc unless it also strengthens a weak indicator muscle. If it only blocks the composite and doesn’t strengthen a weak indicator there is a higher chance that the person will have a mild adverse reaction to taking it and that there is a better remedy if we search alittle more.
3. If you have a patient on both L-Tyrosine and L-Tryptophan (or 5-HTP), it often is best to separate them and give the Tyrosine at awakening and mid morning and the Tryptophan early evening and at bed. This is the case when they both strengthen separately but not together. If they strengthen together you can give them together.
