Dear Colleagues
I was planning to skip an April newsletter due to my scheduled trip to Japan to teach an AK seminar there and visit my son. My wife and I were to tour with him for 3 weeks as part of the trip We have fond memories of our last trip to Japan and words cannot describe how awful we feel about the recent events there. We canceled our trip and my son is due to fly home within the next 24 hours. I personally am not very concerned about significant amounts of radiation reaching the US (I could be wrong but that is my opinion at the present time). When the nuclear problem started there I called my son and told him to start taking Alaria Supreme (6/day), Takesumi 2-3 scoops daily and Reishi Supreme 3/day. If he had it with him I might have included Thornes Iodine. Alaria being a seaweed high in Iodine is a great radiation protection food, and a totally whole natural food. You can read about it on the website (www.supremenutritionproducts.com) as it talks about its radiation protective properties. Takesumi has been traditionally used in Japan to absorb radiation and Reishi is recommended to patients undergoing radiation treatment for cancer. Many of you have seen ads recommending different supplements to take because of the events at Fukushima. I have mixed feelings about companies trying to capitalize on peoples fears (if they are truly concerned it is warranted to recommend things vs if they are just trying to turn a profit- and it is hard to know motives). Again I am not very fearful for significant radiation hitting the US (subclinical levels might be a whole different story). Takesumi and Alaria are 2 supplements/food I routinely include in my diet because of all their positive qualities and those of you and your patients that are concerned should consider them. Please keep the people of Japan in your prayers and consider donating to the relief efforts there. I'll try to write a full newsletter in 2 weeks or so. Michael Lebowitz
