Dear Colleagues:
I hope you are well. We are solidifying our plans for 2014. My son, Noah graduates from Parker this year and we plan on practicing together. To make a long story short we will be working with Dr Jeff Robinson in North Scottsdale, AZ. I plan to still go back and forth between Arizona and Hawaii. My first stint in AZ will be from mid-April into early June (after early June we may not be available again until October). If you wish to have a personal seminar with me I am starting to book them now. Sundays are my best days but my schedule is fairly flexible for most other days too. You can call us at 808-321-0826 to book one. Also I will be seeing patients during that time (Early April through June) and can schedule those also.
Personal seminars are $300 for the day and usually consists of 1-4 physicians and are pretty free flowing. If it is more than one doc I try to match them so their AK skills are on the same level (from not knowing how to muscle test to advanced practitioners). We cover a lot of material and you get a lot of personalized feedback, etc. You should be able to understand and perform our protocols after attending.
NEW PRODUCTS
1) Olive Leaf Supreme (Olea europaea) (Supreme Nutrition 1-800-922-1744). When Supreme Nutrition comes out with a new product it has to be either a little known item, or if it is well known they have to find a source they feel kinesiologically outperforms most if not all of what is on the market. Olive leaf falls into the 2nd category.
Olive leaf has been used as a therapeutic remedy for several thousand years or more but has only become popular in the US market over the last 20 years. Most commercially available olive leaf is in extract form. Being oriented toward using natural-state herbs whenever possible, we attempt to find products in a whole, dried form (as opposed to an extract). By doing this, the herb retains all of the components in the same ratio found in nature (as close as possible considering it is dried). Extraction, standardization etc. are often used to maximize one component of the product, but often all the components work synergistically and that synergism is compromised.
With these goals in mind, we were able to source high quality, dried, whole olive leaf which our team of accomplished applied-kinesiology-practicing physicians found performed better, in our opinion, than the extracts which we tested. That being said we have decided to introduce olive leaf as the next product in the Supreme Nutrition Products line. As with all herbs, it has a number of therapeutic effects.
a) Olive leaf is a great broad spectrum antimicrobial with published studies showing it has antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic effects. It may stimulate phagocyotosis, prevent viral shedding and even penetrate infected cells and stop viral replication. Studies have shown no toxicity but, like any antimicrobial, you may want to restrict it during pregnancy and lactation.
b) It can act as a vasodilator, increase production of nitric oxide, inhibit platelet aggregation, and decrease oxidation of LDL, in addition to exerting other cardio protective effects. Because it lowers blood pressure, your physician may have to monitor your dose of prescription hypertensive medications if you take them.
c) It is one of the strongest antioxidants on the market with an ORAC value that is much higher than grape seed and green tea (and without the negative effects of the theobromine in tea).
d) It can lower blood sugar and thus be a complement to other diabetes treatments.
e) It can increase T3 levels and decrease circulating TSH levels, thus helping thyroid function.
f) A compound found in Olive leaf inhibits xanthine oxidase thereby decreasing the buildup of uric acid.
g) It also has significant anti-inflammatory properties and can be very useful in a number of conditions as a result.
Contraindications:
Do not use during pregnancy and lactation. Also use caution and your doctor's approval if on hypertension medication, blood thinners and diabetic drugs. It is best taken with food.
If you already use olive leaf (extract or whole), be sure to test this versus your current brand or, if you are not currently using it, give this a try.
Dosing:
1-2 caps three times daily.
There is much research on olive leaf throughout the web as well as a number of books on Amazon if you want to read further.
2) Sometime next month Supreme will come out with an Isatis product. Thorne has discontinued theirs. About 20 years ago I helped Thorne develop some products that I felt were very therapeutically beneficial. One of these was Isatis. Unfortunately we were not involved in ongoing kinesiological quality control on that product though we do feel they did have a good product. We did not want to compete (I never received a commission for the product but still did not want to compete) with Thorne’s. Now that they decided to discontinue, we had calls from some practitioners wanting Supreme to find a good source and we were fortunate enough to do so. We will have a full write up in next month’s newsletter and before then on the website. While olive leaf is available now from Supreme, Isatis won’t be available for a few more weeks.
3) Supreme has been out of Camu for a little while. Due to some temporary FDA restrictions, the Camu sample I approved got caught up in red tape (along with all other herbs the importer supplied). We hope to have this remedied shortly. There was one camu source that was available, but it did not pass our AK quality testing and even though it had a good “scientific” certificate of analysis, Supreme does not purchase raw materials that do not pass our AK testing we set up. Thanks for your patience.
Case History from Jeff Robinson DC –North Scottsdale AZ
25 year old Cross-Fit patient presents with 4 months lumbar spine pain, 5 years left knee pain, 6+months left shoulder/elbow pain. Patient had done 3 weeks of PT at a center where all the professional athletes go with no relief. He hurt his back on squats and was disappointed since his training had stagnated. He is probably one of the fittest patients I have ever treated. This patient had no idea what AK was and had come to me from a patient referral and was a skeptic to say the least. AK findings showed gluten/dairy/caffeine/solanine sensitivities. Mixed Bacteria 1, Mixed Bartonella, Mixed Chlamydia, Mercury (vials from AK Test Kits 1-808-321-0826). Supplements indicated were Golden Thread Supreme, Lu Rong Supreme, Takesumi Supreme (Supreme Nutrition 1-800-922-1744) Magnesium Citramate, Zinc Citrate (Thorne 1-800-228-1966). I fixed all the musculoskeletal findings, adjusted him, had him avoid the positive food groups, and had him follow up in one week. His one week follow up was interesting because he was in shock; all his low back pain was gone, 50% reduced in shoulder and elbow pain and 20% in the knee. He asked what "miracle" adjustment I did and I laughed because it wasn't the adjustment. It was the dietary changes and supplementation. I love converting skeptics. Three more treatments over 6 weeks removed all shoulder/elbow pain. Low back pain never returned and knee is 70% improved (old meniscus injury). But the most impressive thing about his recovery was his training performance increase. As I said, he is a cross-fitter and now states he is the strongest in his gym and has been encouraged by the owner to enter competitions. Another example to me of a patient with musculo-skeletal complaints when really the problem was bio-chemical.

5. Body Restoration An Owners Manual - An updated and expanded version of my first book Body Mechanics published almost 30 years ago. Part 1 has a chapter on each organ/gland. Each chapter teaches basic anatomy and physiology, causes and symptoms of dysfunction, as well as simple treatments your patient can do at home to complement your treatment. Part 2 explains the role of dysbiosis, food intolerances, toxic metals, nutritional deficiencies and neurotransmitter imbalances in health. The book is a great review for the doctor, but better yet it is a great tool to recommend to your patient. It will give them a better understanding of how their body works and the causes of health and disease, as well as the rationale of why you treat the way you do. It is very pro chiropractic. It is available on kindle at http://www.amazon.com/Body-Restoration-Owners-Manual-ebook/dp/B0050653C4/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1353354004&sr=1-1 If you don’t have a kindle http://bodyrestorationanownersmanual.com/html/Order.html and we will send you a PDF form.
