Dear Colleagues

I hope you are well. For those of you that missed it, the ICAK 50th anniversary meeting was possibly the best AK meeting in decades. Don’t miss the 2015 meeting scheduled for the end of July 2015 in Chicago. For those that were there it was great to see many of you- my only regret being I was so busy that I didn’t have enough time to visit with everyone. The paper that Jeff Robinson and I wrote on biofilms won one of the two paper-of-the-year awards. This was my fourth such award and it is always humbling when your research is acknowledged.

I’ve also been working on a new Supreme Nutrition product that should be announced in the next newsletter. The idea came from Steve Gangemi DC and it should be an exceptional product.

We will be splitting our time in July and August between our two locations of Scottsdale and Honolulu so check with us if you want to schedule a one on one seminar or an appointment for treatment. I am going to keep this newsletter short as we are still unpacking from our move to Scottsdale from Grand Junction and there is so much to do.

We just found out that July 1st there will be a 10% price raise on many of the AK Test Kit- kits so if you want to save a little money you should order immediately.

Seminars

We have tentatively planned two seminars for the fall besides our one-on-ones at the office. October 26th in NYC and Nov 9th in Phoenix. Please mark these on your calendar and next month we should have more details.

Case Histories

1) I have had the privilege of teaching the AK club at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe along with a number of ND’s recently. This was submitted by Steven Ehrlich ND of Phoenix

A 38 year old male with extreme migraines for over 15 years came to my office. He had been to multiple neurologists in New York without much help. Polypharmacy and botox injections every 3 months were given to help with the pain. Even with all this treatment his migraines were an enormous problem with near daily episodes. He only had two days in Phoenix for me to treat him. Usually we use applied kinesiology along with an aggressive style of acupuncture for migraines, with great success, but we only had 2 days to treat him, so acupuncture was not realistic. I took him through the Dr. Lebowitz’s protocol and he was strong on almost my entire kit; microbes, clotting factors, metals, etc - nothing weakened. Finally in the Food Toxins Kit (AK Test Kits- Lebowitz protocol kit 970-201-7406) he weakened on Gliadin and Casein. I sent him off with instructions to avoid Gluten and Dairy and wished him well. Six weeks later he contacted our office to say he had been migraine free since leaving Phoenix. I saw him again recently, about 8 months since his original visit, and he says he allows himself gluten once per week and is 90% better overall. He also looked a lot healthier and leaner than at his first visit.

Dr L’s comments- this is one of those easy “miracle” cases where dysbiosis, toxic metals, etc. were not issues and where just simple dietary modifications that are no brainers for most of us brought significant relief. Dr Ehrlich and I consult on tough cases and it is great to have a local ND to call on when needed.

2) Submitted by Amy Zalbowitz- Crested Butte, CO

Dale, a thirteen year old male, came to see me in February 2014. He had been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at two different hospitals and was suffering with GI ulcerations, migraines, vomiting, recurrent colds, frequent bouts of influenza and seasonal allergies. The doctors at Children’s Hospital in Denver confirmed the Crohn’s diagnosis, but insinuated that it was all in his head and he should take the drugs and live with it. He tried that for years, but the drugs did not give him any relief and he was unable to participate in the sports he loved (track and wrestling) due to the intestinal pain and migraines. The hospital staff told him that he could eat whatever he wanted and that food sensitivities were not an issue. Three years after his diagnosis, Dale was miserable and said he would do whatever it took to get better. Candida Glabrata, Candida Krusei, Mixed Parasite 1, Mixed Parasite Internal, H. pylori, Rickettsia, numerous metals, all nuts, blackberry, sugar, honey, garlic, coconut, hops, radish, carob, corn, soy, egg, mushrooms, yeast, vinegar, pineapple, alpha solanine, methylxanthines, dairy, and gliadin weakened him (vials from AK test kits). Smilax Supreme, Goldenthread Supreme, and Takesumi Supreme (Supreme Nutrition 1-800-922-1744) strengthened him as did SF722 (Thorne). I sent him home with instructions to follow an antifungal diet, eliminate all of his food sensitivities and take the appropriate supplements.

I retested Dale one month later. He was ecstatic and grateful. He mentioned that he felt better the day after he saw me and all his symptoms were gone within 10 days. He was able to participate on the track team and said he felt stronger than ever.

The only microbe that remained was Mixed Rickettsia. Soy, methylxanthines, arsenic, uranium, barium and cadmium weakened him. Takesumi Supreme and Melia Supreme strengthened.

It is now two months after Dale’s second appointment and he just texted me that he is symptom free and feeling great.

5. Body Restoration An Owners Manual - An updated and expanded version of my first book Body Mechanics published almost 30 years ago. Part 1 has a chapter on each organ/gland. Each chapter teaches basic anatomy and physiology, causes and symptoms of dysfunction, as well as simple treatments your patient can do at home to complement your treatment. Part 2 explains the role of dysbiosis, food intolerances, toxic metals, nutritional deficiencies and neurotransmitter imbalances in health. The book is a great review for the doctor, but better yet it is a great tool to recommend to your patient. It will give them a better understanding of how their body works and the causes of health and disease, as well as the rationale of why you treat the way you do. It is very pro chiropractic. It is available on kindle at http://www.amazon.com/Body-Restoration-Owners-Manual-ebook/dp/B0050653C4/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1353354004&sr=1-1 If you don’t have a kindle http://bodyrestorationanownersmanual.com/html/Order.html and we will send you a PDF form.
