I hope you are all well. This has been a crazy time. On Jan 27th I underwent knee surgery to have the pins and wires removed from my patella that were placed there last spring when I fractured it. I may report more on that next month. There have been many more things I have been involved with that I will probably report on in future newsletters.

We are happy to announce a seminar taught by Michael Lebowitz DC this spring. The West Coast Seminar will be on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront Hotel in Burlingame, CA 94010 (tel:650-340-8500). This is Dr. Lebowitz first Bay Area seminar in 20+ years.
This class will teach our whole protocol in its most updated version. You will learn quick and easy ways to test for and treat:
- dysbiosis (fungal, parasitic, bacterial, viral, Lyme)
- food sensitivities/toxicities
- metal toxicity
- chemical intolerance
- blood coagulation problems
- mycotoxins
- biofilms
- nutritional deficiencies and reactions etc.
You will find using these protocols will help many chronic conditions in patients including but not limited to fatigue, fibromyalgia, arthritis, most gastro-intestinal issues, dermatological conditions, asthma, headaches of all types, chronic musculoskeletal conditions, etc. You will be able to expand the conditions you treat and get consistent reproducible results. The class is suited for both the beginning and advanced practitioner. These techniques have been successful at increasing doctor’s referrals as well give the physician a broader understanding of chronic health issues.
Dr. Lebowitz has been teaching advanced AK seminars since 1987, has written 4 books, over 60 research papers and has won 4 awards from the International College of Applied Kinesiology for his papers and work. He has a research practice that attracts patients from around the world and includes chronically ill patients, professional athletes, and everyone in between. He is also secretary of the International College of Applied Kinesiology as well the program chair for the annual meeting.
Skills in basic muscle testing (how to discern a strong muscle from a weak one) are the only prerequisites. This class will also count towards ICAK diplomate hours.
Free airport shuttle is available. For those driving the fee for parking will be $4/day. There is a restaurant on site and one next to hotel.

Cost is $250. The class will run 9AM-5PM, Sunday. There will be much time for work-shopping as it is important to us that all who attend leave with a good understanding of the techniques and how to apply them. We encourage early registrations. We do not anticipate it being sold out but our NYC one was and we had to turn a few doctors away.

The seminar will be very similar to the 2014 one we did in NYC and Phoenix (available on DVD) though we will feature at least one new technique that will make you rethink how you prescribe nutritional products with AK and will make you a more effective prescriber.

I am one of those docs that from an AK perspective I almost never supplement vitamin D and it doesn’t show on my testing even when the patient comes in with a low serum 25(OH)D test. My friend Dr. Robinson had told me that many of these patients have a high 1,25(OH)2D and this article/study goes into detail and speaks of how if you get a low serum 25(OH)D you may want to investigate a parasitic etiology instead of supplementing with vitamin D

Hi Dr. Bill,
I have a new patient for you if you are interested in taking her on. I spoke to a woman who is also suffering from Chronic Lyme Disease and appears to be as sick as I was when I first walked through your door a year and a half ago. She has been sick for 10 years, been treating at least since 2007 from what I could tell from our discussion and remains quite ill. Her case affected her GI system far worse than mine in that she ended up hospitalized with C-diff and bleeding. She has had multiple Lyme doctors all over Florida and has tried all of the possible "western medicine" therapies for treating this disease from oral meds to IV therapy. I really give her credit for being as tough as she has been.
She has since recovered from her hospitalization and has been off all oral antibiotics for the past two or three months now. She is looking to take her treatment in a new direction and is looking to go in a more holistic direction. She wants to work on healing her body and getting away from bombarding her Lyme Disease with all of the antibiotics that have been used since 2007. When I told her about what you do she was totally interested in talking to you and possibly becoming a patient.
I wasn't sure if you were taking on any other Lyme patients and because I was personally brought to you by …….., I thought I would extend you the same courtesy of contacting you directly about this lady instead of just giving her your number. I told her that I would check with you first and if you were taking on new patients then I would give her your email or phone number so she could get in touch with you to make an appointment or at least to talk to you. If you are not interested in taking on another Chronic Lyme case, I certainly understand and will let her know that you have a full patient load at this time and are not seeing any new patients. You can just let me know how you want me to handle it.
On a separate note, my primary care doctor would like to start referring her Lyme patients to you but I am not sure if you want an influx of patients coming to your practice. I know that you like your free time so I am not sure how much of an extra case load you are looking to add. I think she has about 10 Lyme cases right now and I am sure that not all of them would make the drive to Melbourne Beach from Jacksonville but we are starving for anyone who can treat us up here so we have nothing to offer these people for their suffering. That is something else for you to think about.
