NEW PRODUCT
I’ve wanted to do this product ever since Supreme Nutrition started but it took this long to find a source of raw material that passed my testing. I mainly use it as a broad spectrum antimicrobial, especially fungal/candida issues. It has a long history of being used safely during pregnancy making it a very effective antimicrobial during pregnancy and with children (adults too but they can take all the products).

Scutellaria baicalensis, Chinese Skullcap, Huang Qin is a flowering herb in the mint family that has been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The root is used as medicine and has been found to be very rich in flavonoids including baicalein, baicalin, wogonin, norwogonin, and oroxylin A [1].
In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is classically used to clear damp heat which encompasses conditions like fever, nausea, dysentery, diarrhea, ulcers, tonsillitis, urinary tract infections, bronchitis, and pneumonia. It was also seen as an agent to clear toxins from the body and stop excessive bleeding as well as calm the fetus during pregnancy. Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown to have a synergistic effect when combined with beta-lactam antibiotics, thereby restoring their effectiveness against multidrug resistant bacteria like MRSA [2].
Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown in research to be a potent anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective [3, 4, 5, 6], cardioprotective [7], hepatoprotective [8, 9], nephroprotective [10, 11], anti-allergy, and a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent [fungus, candida, bacteria, virus, parasite,etc.] Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown to increase glutathione, a potent antioxidant [12]. There have been hundreds of studies on this herb. It has been shown to decrease damage after stroke and heart attack, and improve memory and cognition. It has also been shown to be a potent anti-inflammatory, which can both reduce joint pain [13] as well as allergy symptoms [14]. It has also been shown to be a potent antimicrobial against many bacteria including Salmonella, Typhimurium, Kentucky, Senftenberg, and Enteritidis species [15]. It has also been shown effective against candida species [16].
The flavonoids in Scutellaria baicalensis have been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory effects, blocking TNF-a, COX and Interleukin 6 [17] and exhibiting positive effects on conditions like inflammatory bowel disease [18].
Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown to have potent anti-cancer effects for many different types of cancers including colon cancer [19], lung cancer [20, 21], breast cancer [22, 23], leukemias, liver cancer [24], brain cancers [25], stomach cancer [26], and squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck [27].
Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown to decrease inflammation in the airways and has been shown very useful in treating asthma [28, 29].
Scutellaria baicalensis has protective effects on cardiac tissue and increases blood flow to the periphery lending itself as a treatment for erectile dysfunction and other circulation issues [30].
Scutellaria baicalensis has been shown to have potent antiviral effects, particularly against H1N1 Flu virus [31] as well as dengue virus [32].
Scutellaria baicalensis has anticoagulant effects and works by inhibiting platelet aggregation [33].
Lastly studies have shown the herb to have a glucose-lowering effect, and therefore implications for treating type II diabetes [34].
Scutellaria baicalensis is very safe and has been used for thousands of years safely in pregnancy to help overcome acute colds and flus, however long-term use should be avoided in pregnancy [35].
Typical adult dose is one capsule t.i.d. but can go higher if needed. Because it is a platelet aggregation inhibitor those on prescription anticoagulants might not want to take it or at least consult with your physician first. References on website
CASE HISTORY-
Richard Spina DC- Phoenix AZ
In February, a 74 year old male presented with mild digestive symptoms (belching, gas), some night sweats and fatigue. Also diabetic. Diagnosed with a blocked valve. He could not walk a block without being winded and having to rest. Reacted to mixed bacteria and fungus vials as well as solanine and soy (AK Test Kits 970-201-7406). Placed on Anti-fungal diet and the following supplements: Morinda Supreme (3 TID), Golden Thread Supreme (1 TID- Supreme Nutrition 800-922-1744), Magnesium Citrate (Thorne, 1 TID or as per bowel tolerance), Calcium Citrate (Thorne, 1 TID) and Homocysteine Factors (1 BID- Pure Encapsulations). Rechecked in three weeks. Patient (as well as his wife) stated that within a few days he was able to walk around the block and now walks one to two miles daily without getting winded. He still reacted to solanine and soy which must have snuck into his diet during the three-week period. Patient will continue with diet. Tested well for the following supplements this time: Olive Leaf Supreme (1 TID), Alaria Supreme (1 TID), Rosemary Supreme (1 TID) Calcium Citrate and Magnesium Citrate, Homocysteine Factors (1 BID), Innate Response Formula Flora 50-14 (probiotic, one daily with a meal)

Just a short anecdotal one. Steve is a 68 year old who flies his private plane for business multiple times a week. He suffered from fatigue and when he flew he needed to be attached to oxygen. He was taking bioidentical testosterone. We found some minor dysbiosis but on screening him on supreme products he needed Mucuna supreme and Tulsi supreme. We supplemented those and within a few days he no longer needed oxygen and his energy has increased nicely. He will be taking those on a maintenance basis. We have had a number of older patients respond very positively to mucuna. Dopamine decreases with age (see article 2 in the Interesting Articles section below) and giving mucuna can help reverse some of the related conditions.
